**HELP** DVD burning taking longer at higher speeds...

my computer is pretty weak, spec-wise, but it suites my needs.

athlon 2100+
512ddr

and so on...


anyways, when i burn a dvd at 4x, a full disc takes about 15min. but when i attempt to burn at 16x, it takes longer. im kinda assuming that my computer cant keep up with the burning needs of the writer. is my assumption correct or is there another reason it takes longer?

if thats true, then just burn it at 4x. yes, it should take about 1/4 the time at 16x, but since it doesnt, burning at the slower speed only helps the quality of the disc that youre burning.

Mine does that sometimes to but towards midway or so it starts to speed up a bit beats me man. I got a 2.4ghz, 512 ddr also so dunno.

ok... well its decided that im not upgrading my computer until necessary. ive got other things id rather spend my money on(see sig). so bottomline, is my computer just too slow for the burner?

i just bought an intel 1.8 for 150 bucks.........but there's like two of them in the processor or something. [/sarcasm]

but yea, burn at 4x then...it'll write more efficiently.

your comp aint that slow, just make sure you dont have hella programs running in the background. i have a spare 1800+, 512 DDr ram, WE 80gb SE and shit and it runs decent.

nothing compared to a core duo though :o

seriously my Pentium M 1.6ghz runs fine. It only ever bogs when I have it doing like 15 things at once. which is rare. I have 6 programs open at all times, not to mention a dashboard. I just wish I had a DVD burner. stupid laptops and thier inability to switch out hardware efficiently.
