Idk if it has been mentioned but what about Atreyu?? As soon as I heard the first album I fell in love with the shit. The newest album is a little softer than their previous ones, but yet it's pry even better than before! These guys are awesome and I can listen to 'em over and over!!

I've pretty much decided those guys are not talented and they are a slight step above the nu-metal craze. They have like 3 songs I can listen to and I thought I liked them at first. But especially after their latest album came out and I saw them live my opinion has turned south. Their vocalist is very weak and the music has been done. And what's with the makeup on them and similar bands? At least in Black Metal it goes with the evil theme even though it's funny. Looking at these guys and others just annoys me.
I do like "Bleeding Mascara" and "Lip Gloss & Black" though. And I like the clean singing of the drummer, can't help but sing a catchy chorus. I can see why many people would like them but I feel like a 16 year old dork listening to them.
Now, I do like some Bleeding Through songs. They are a similar band. Heavier and more talented but along the same lines.

i like disturbed, rammstein, lamb of god, ill nino, and 10 years (tho they may not be metal). you could tell me that my taste sucks, but i dont really give a damn. musical preference is just that, a preference of the person who has it. i dont listen to shit to be popular (and trust me, playing lamb of god on my stereo is almost never popular). i have seen disturbed, ill nino, and 10 years live, and that concert was fucking amazing. i have even started to like trapt and shinedown after they played at my university for st pats (btw, next year is the 100th, it is literally going to be the best party in the country! ). the music was...eh...but the group and the crowd were amazing! over 5k people in a small ass gym!

Am I getting old or is anyone else getting tired of what they've been listening to for the past 5 even 10 years. And I feel the current scene has no potential left. There's really only a few bands and songs out of hundreds that are really good and that I can see myself listening to in the future as I really get old. Do you think it was the same for our parents and their music and their growing up. I think it was to some extent, but I really feel everything has been done by now. What new stuff can they create?

I agree...ive listened to my old classic rock albumns 1000's of times.

Ive about exausted the Metal that i have, which isnt so much but i have a nice chunk.

I deff need to come up on metal.

As far as female singers and i hope i dont get pelted with rocks for this but i love her voice...flyleaf.

Not metal, more alt i guess but her voice can go from lullaby to rip your fucking face off really quick....i think she can sing...the band just needs to tighten up some and experiment.

Does anyone listen to Nile? Theyre pretty fucking good.

So is Kilgore which is a hard band to find shit for considering they had like 2 albums.

Damn there was a band i was going to recommend and i fucking forgot.....

I love Flyleaf too. It's the ultra feminine voice that does it. And I hate the religious theme but whatever I could always listen to her.

I just finished getting a bunch of Elysian Fields (the Greek black metal band, not the stupid rock band). Man, I love this band! I have one of their older albums, Adelain... and it got all scratched up. I just discovered some of their newer stuff, and unlike many metal bands, they're still good! Their recent offering has some techno/electronic stuff mixed in, but the music hasn't lost it's edge.

Also, I forget if I mentioned them before... but Samael just keeps getting better and better. They were fairly generic in their older stuff, and they're really progressing in a great direction. Passage is still my favorite.

when metallica's album st anger was about to be released Elektra Records dug up some old metal bands and put them on the P2P network as "st anger" to deter file downloaders. I downloaed it and obviously got the wrong one, i didnt know for a while till st anger came out (which was awful) i crashed that hard drive and ive never been able to find the song, but it was definately one of the best metal songs ive EVER heard in my life...

on the topic of female front[wo]men, have you heard of Wicked Wisdom? the lead singer is actually Jada Pinket Smith, you know, the Fresh Prince Will Smith's wife.

they opened for Sevendust last year and they performed really well. most of the choruses are really catchy (you mentioned that you cant resist those in a previous post), but its difficult to feel like its passionate. sometimes it feels like the are, i dont know, faking it. i dig em.

i also love music of all types, and i'm not just saying that like most people do because they dont want to get made fun of because of the music they really enjoy. [girly voice] i only listen to the radio and only get into the popular mainstream music because society does!!!!!1!!!!!!!![/girly voice]

going a little OT here, but that reminds me of a former roomate/pretty good friend of mine. he would ONLY like a bands/groups/artists main song(s). that shit killed me. he would never "dig deeper" into the albums, just closed minded as hell only accepting the singles. blah, ok im done with that little tangent.

havent gotten into the dark metal, such as the ones listed in the first post. uslspct would probably call this pussy metal ( ) , but i like the type bands along the lines of All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid, Killswitch, Trivium, etc. those type bands i listen to most often.

and i just got into Pantera this past year, and i mean really into. for the past two weeks there hasnt been a day where i havent listened to some sort of Pantera. ill call it a minor obsession at this point.

Bleeding Through i like, same for Atreyu (not their last album that much though ).

heard of Still Remains? i hear Atreyu with a keyboard with that band.

how about Protest the Hero? they are amazing, thrash type metal could describe their sound. i saw them live with Trivium once and they blew me away!

that's all i got for now.

Yeah, they(WW) were on Ozzfest. I give them more credit than most people do.
I love All that Remains. Their last album was their best which is rare with the bands now.
God Forbid puts on one of the best live shows out there. I wonder what they're doing now.
Ahh, old Sevendust. Still a good listen.
I like AILD becuase it's so damn catchy and a good live show.
Can't stand Atreyu. I think they're at the forefront of the *** mall/fake goth/a little better than nu-metal but not quiet real metal movement.
Trivum does a good live show but their last album I think was flat as hell.
I could never get into Killswitch. But they do have some good catchy singalong songs.

But all these bands and many more who have about 3 going on 4 albums now, I think are finished. They did what they could and now it's boring. Shadows Fall's new album put me to sleep. And Trivium too. But there's still many older bands I have yet to find and like so onward to that...

Don't know who Protest the Hero is.

There's a band with a woman singer called In This Moment that'll be on Ozzfest. I like what they do. She's pretty hot too.
