I've seen 2 VWs go up in flames, and my old roommate had a mk4 GLI. That thing spent 2 out of the first 3 months he owned it in the shop. When he finally got it running, we took it to the track... and I spanked it with the CB7

my mom made me get rid of it, she is like if i ever get in an accident im dead, it has no safety things on it, i was kinda mad, but yet i finally get rid of the roll up windows

The CB7 is actually really safe. Airbags have yet to be proven to do more good than harm (I have a friend that's had reconstructive surgery, and a sizable lawsuit, because of the damage done by an airbag). Seatbelts are the best protection you can get in most cars. Well, that, and careful driving.

Funny how your mom made you get rid of the slow family car for a "safer" sporty car with a larger, more powerful engine. You'll miss those roll-up windows when your power motors die... Hopefully the new ones won't ever go out on you (I have 1 bad one and 2 annoyingly slow ones on my car now)

so far I have replaced 3 out of 4 regulator motors. no fun at all. almost wish I had the lighter weight manual windows.

also with slow windows I found that some multi-purpose silicone lube in the rails works wonders.
