Iraq was a buffer... It was a safety net for us. Saddam was the Middle East's equivalent to Bush... A fuckup. There are much greater threats over there than Saddam ever was... The fact that he was over there being a jackass actually kept us safe. The true powers there might be able to do some stuff now... The troubles with them haven't even begun yet, if I'm correct... I hope I'm wrong! I had a professor who taught nuclear war theory, and he went into it one day...

I don't think Bush being in power affects the way law enforcement does their job. As Fizzbob said, no matter who's in power, you're going to get dicked over anyways. Come on, you're a hard-working younger male, why shouldn't you be? Bush may be going a little too far, but the initial war was necessary. Although the media encourages it, have you ever sat down and thought about what voicing your opinion does? Who listens and bases their decisions off of your ideas? Maybe our economy, but not our government.
when it comes to voting, i say go the utilitarian route. sure, both candidates suck, but who will minimize damage? when the good cant be maximized, minimize the bad. and yes, no vote is as bad as a vote for the person you complain about. as rousseau said "Born a citizen of a free state and a member of the sovereign, the right to vote is enough to impose upon me the duty to instruct myself in public affairs, however little influence my voice may have in them"2010 Taurus SHO - Livernois Goodies

RESUME
George W. Bush
The White House, USA
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
LAW ENFORCEMENT: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available.
MILITARY: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.
COLLEGE: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:
I ran for US Congress and lost.
I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.
I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money.
With the help of my father and our right-wing friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR:
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union.
During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.
I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.
With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:
I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.
I spent the US surplus and effectively bankrupted the US Treasury.
I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in US history.
I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the US stock market.
I am the first President in US history to enter office with a criminal record.
I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-yearperiod.
After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in US history.
In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq, and then blamed the lies on our British friends.
I set the record for most campaign fundraising trips by a US President.
In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month.
I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.
I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in US history.
I set the record for least number of press conferences of any President since the advent of television.
I presided over the biggest energy crisis in US history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.
I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history.
I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families -- in wartime.
I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest against me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.
I've broken more international treaties than any President in US history.
I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.
I am the first President in US history to order an unprovoked, preemptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of US citizens, and the world community.
I refused to allow inspector's access to US "prisoners of war" detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.
I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US election).
I am the all-time US and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations.
My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in US history.
My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the US Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution.
More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history.
I garnered the most sympathy for the US after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the US the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.
I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.
I changed the US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.
I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein to justice.
RECORDS AND REFERENCES:
All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view.
All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.
All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-president, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.
Please consider my experience when voting in 2004.2010 Taurus SHO - Livernois Goodies

only reason we went to iraq was b/c sadam didn't want to listen to bush...the whole war against terrorsit was just a more publi friendly reason. If he had a better reason to go to haiti we'd have alot more troops there too. What about him destoying the rainforest in south america to get oil? I forget what his actual reasoning was, but he is doing it. Only problem is the Public doesn't get to hear this b/c everyone in his cabinet is affiliated with the media....look it up if you don't believe me. The public didn't elect bush the electorial college didI don't lie, I bullshit

Maybe I shouldn't get into this thread since its so old, but I just have to comment, you know how I like to bitch and moan, hey I'm liberal
I saw the "Only in America" comment, and I wanted to say that it twisted me to hear it because the way I see it, this sort of thing is common to the third world. Living in America we're supposed to have a protected right to dissent, where in other countries they couldn't do this. After seeing "Farenheit 911", my friend from India said to me, "If this happened in India, Michael Moore would be in jail. You not allowed to say such things about the government." Here, we are allowed to, we're supposed to. It's our right and our responsibility to do so, and this boy was sold out by his f*cking school administrators. I don't blame Bush personally, I would blame his teachers and his school before I climbed the ladder to Bush. The only way Bush could have any responsibility for this is if the way he's shaped America has led to the mindset and climate to cause people to fear dissent. If the teachers feared what might happen if they didn't speak out, then it is more like "1984". If we're afraid to use the rights given us, it's an awful time to be alive in America.
"Only in America"?
It's only in America that this should have never happened.
What makes it worse is that he was crusified (sp?) over ART. Art is many peoples last chance at voicing their feelings. If he had been turned in over a term paper he had written it would have been awful, but to be turned in for his art is a tragedy. Like I said, I think it is the school that should be ashamed of their actions, but only if it is the attitude of the country to turn each other in would I place blame on Bush.
on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Anyone who thinks a vote for any other party matters is kidding themselves... Well, the Green party is getting close to getting federal campaign funding (you need a certain percentage of the votes to get it) so they may have my vote...
so many problems with the last election i could go on for days. but to sum it up presidential elections have become quite hysterical lately, issues that deal with our day to day lives essentially dont get attention because of the global dilemmas. im not to say we shouldnt have gone to war but it should have been planned and executed better. i wish i had more encouraging things to say but ive decided that after i graduate college and save up some money i am moving to japan. mostly for my business but also because i see some catastrophic things happening in the near future for the united states. But everybody PLEASE VOTE!!!! you have nothing to show for if you dont. there are other more important things on the ballots than presidents as well, esp. the local elections that affect where you work and live. this country needs less apathy and more effort to correct things.

Agreed...It's nice to see someone that actually gives a respectable answer....rather than "Bush just sucks....." But hey..I think liberals should keep harping on that issue..afterall their "Bush bashing" technique is what lost them the electiion...
And Jarrett..thank you for serving in our military and helping to protect our country and our way of life.
