they have more or less been the same cars but now Toyota is cooky enough to let people know that they are selling overpriced camrys as a Lexus.

I like some lexus but a 8 speed tranny is just a next reason to overcharge us and make sure that the car HAS to be service at the dealership.

What, and it'd be way better to purchase an AUDI, BMW, or Mercedes.....all of which are going to need servicing before the LEXUS. I'd venture to say the other's are less reliable as well, german cars are over-engineered and too expensive to repair.

the rear reclining seats are cool.

            still it's a Toyota product...

Eggsactly. The engine will be held in the same rpm range no matter how fast its going. (crusingwise)

                Very fuel efficient thinking.

If I remember correctly, the new LS460 8 Speed is actually smaller and simpler than the outgoing 5speed, and is only marginally heavier.

Auto trannies are so complex anyway, that I don't think the equipment necessary to add 3 gears would make much of a difference.

Also, yes 8 gears is better for mileage, and acceleration, because it allows the engine to be kept in a better part of the powerband all the time.

It also allows you to leverage less power for better acceleration, because you can use the gear multipliers in your favor. The more multipliers, the more broad the range the engine can be kept on boil.

I don't think power is a problem here though.

When I saw it, it struck me more like a bmw than a camry. I thought it was a 7 series until I looked closer.

And for the auto-parking I'm pretty sure it uses back-up sensors and the like, so I don't think it would be a problem.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

now is there any way to get that 8speed on the cb?
that would be crazy a honda having more gears than a ferrari.

Not my fault my dick only fits magnums.

Actaully, I read the Car and Driver article....it's a lighter trans case, but also something like 10-15% stronger then the previous 5-speed.

Yeah, I couldn't remember if it ended up a little larger and a little lighter, or a little smaller and a little heavier.

Either way, it was a feat condsidering they shoehorned an extra 3 gears into it, all while making it stronger and simpler.
