Saltwater would need processing to be sold in bottles or as an alternative fuel, processing costs money which means they would need to charge more if they wanted to use salt water.

this guy here, retrofitted a water system into his truck....

the milage numbers are pretty impressive:

3000 miles with $20 of pretrol and 2 liters of water. The petrol was used to provide carbon for engine lubricantion.

I am pretty sure this guy did not do any work in terms of engine effeciency research like the big auto makers....imagine what they can do with this concept.
