Best Linux Version

So, i hear lots of good things about linux and i want to try it out. What is the best version to use/install with a dual boot option, and where would one acquire it? I know a few people run it here, and thus, id like to get the opinions of a few people here as opposed to people i dont know "out there", and by "out there" i mean the rest of the internet.

for the linux noob, ubuntu would be the best choice. you can download it from www.ubuntulinux.org.

please keep in mind that no linux distro is ready for main stream, and not everything is going to work out of the box (things like wireless support are still sketchy). but the support forums (www.ubuntuforums.org) are a great resource, and iv yet to fail to get something to work after a little digging.

try a live disc like knoppix ... you dont even have to format your hard drive.. trust me on this one dude...

knoppix is the shit..and has restored my faith in linux compatabilty... try it out ...

Ubuntu has a live cd as well. I prefer Kubuntu as I like KDE better than Gnome.
I've used Fedora, SuSe, and RH but I keep going back to Kubuntu.

They also have GREAT support forums.

word, i thought ubuntu was the best choice as this guy i know suggested it. regardless, i have parts to order and a test to study for, so this will become my thursday project.
