HELP!!! Computer wont play mpegs

when i play an mpeg all it says is "media player has encountered an unknown error".


i dont think its a codec issue. ive been able to play any type of file in the past. it just very recently stopped allowing mpegs to play.

does the error message pop up in a window?, or is it displayed on the right side of media player?.. I'm guessing ur using media player 10? that shitty thing has lots of problems.. if u can, try to explain more: is it a online mpeg streaming? or is it a file u've opened before, and now it won't work. . . .

one thing u can try is uninstall media player.. then uninstall and delete all codecs. then reinstall media player, then all codecs. k-lite is good... DL any codecs that's free. I'll try to hook u up with all my codecs, but i need to get on my pc(haven't used that think in a while.. lol) also update directx 9.0c. update anyvideo thing, lol .. then cross ur fingers and try again.

if ur problem still happens, and if ur coming to next weeks meet, i'll give u a disk full of codecs, and players. then i know for sure it should work. Is ur pc a laptop?. if so bring it, so we can fix it then .. lol.

theyre file i have on my computer that have worked in the past, and now, no longer. the error message is a small window that pops up. i can close it and media player will still be open(wmp 9, btw).

i already tried to uninstall everything and that didnt work. thing is, the media player classic DOES work with the mpeg2 files. but i still want to know why it was erroring out before. i dont wanna swep the problem under the desk by just using a different program... it media player 9 worked before and i want to know why it doesnt now.


and about the porn, im good... most of the files i download were from a dvd source but reencoded to divx.

Maybe stop using WMP....

theres far better programs out there.

I prefer Media Player Classic (nothing like WMP)

It comes with some codec packs such as K-Lite and ACE Mega CodecS.


Then there's always VLC.... which usually will play just about anything.

I just get the k-lite codec pack, takes care of pretty much all video formats.

go safe man just get k-lite i have it aswell and works better without using any other resources
