hey lets say i format my harddrive .. and i reinstall i-tunes.. how do i get my music from my ipod back onto the computer into the i tunes library is this possible?

same thing happened to me, i think the only way is to get the songs from the hard drive and put them on the new one is by burning cd's and installing them on the new hard drive, or you could use a usb flash drive.

well heres a thought, plug the ipod in, double click on "my computer" find the ipod on the list and you should see all your music.

just say screw the MacOS and install uClinux on it, with the podzilla interface. then you wont have to worry about things like that :-)

dont let the "works on gen 1,2, and 3" thing fool you. it works on just about all ipods now. including video and nano

Well, if you format the iPod, you won't be able to move the songs from it back to ANY computer --- you'll have erased them during the format.

Transfer them first, then re-format. One of the song transfer utilities mentioned will work.
