    V8 honda!?

Anyone know of any kind of Accord, Civic, etc with a V8 under the hood?

I read a magazine a few weeks ago about someone who took a hachiroku (toyota corolla hatchback, 80s model, chassis number AE86, prominantly featured in initial D and one of the best drift cars ever) and put a Lexus V8 under the hood.

kinda pointless. if i wanted a 2 door car with a V8, I'd get a 69 camaro, a nova, or a 67 mustang fastback. mmm, that's pure sex right there... i loves me my muscle cars, gotta pay respect where it's due.

Why is it pointless? The AE86 weighs nearly half of what most muscle cars do. There are pics floating around of a 93 Accord coupe with an sbc. Mugen has a Legend with a 500hp 4.0 V8. Not Hondas, but a bunch of FD guys are doing LS1 swaps these days..guess they wanted some reliability for once

      mmmmm 69 camaro...:drools:

but anyways, i think it would be BA to have a v8 in an Ae86 (is that the levin or trueno??) just to mess with people..true sleeper style, to the public eye most people would call an old corolla beater, and that would just be great to dust them. not to mention that much power in a fairly light vehicle would just be plain out fun to mess around with, like donuts, powerslides, "drift" type maneuvers and shit

idk..i would do it if i had the money

i found a video of someone putting what i believe to be a small block into a nissan fairliady z..and that thing had some damn torque

There have been a few transplants, but they are not common due to the prevalent FF configuration, and the fact that a big huge Iron or Aluminum Block V8 would have adverse effects on the handling balance of most cars.

The previously mentioned cars do exist, and I have seen SBC Civics too.

On a better note, Honda is currently in the development phase of a production V8.

It will be found in the next gen RL and Ridgeline for starters and may go from there.

So far it is rumored to displace 4.6 liters and make 400-450HP.

I'll believe that when I see it. 350-375 would be a more conservative guess for a DOT/emissions legal Honda V8. But I dunno, 450.... That'd be insane!

If you work out the specific outputs on their other engines that have no problem being the most emmisions friendly engines out there, than it isn't that hard to believe.

Especially not when taken into consideration with some of the other technologies brewing, such as their next generation of VTEC etc.

They have a 3.7 liter SOHC J series V6 that is making 300 with close coupled cats, etc.

That is a specific output of 81HP per liter, and it has SOHC VTEC... and has basic architecture that has been in service since the late 1990's.

If they maintain the same 81HP per liter, they will be right around 380. If the other new technology they will most certainly incorporate helps that, 400 HP and total emmissions compliance is not at all unreasonable.
