Good luck trying to get something together though
I've already got a small spot where there'd be a good 1/8th mi or so.

Excellent idea. Just make sure you have some type of safty precations as well as responsible, mature, and organized folks running it, as well as maybe who knows help form the cops and firefighters. Good luck. I second your idea. The Lord watches over me!

Yea so true.
When is the last time you heard of a street racer killing someone on the streets? Around here it's never. They usually end up killing themselves for trying to go around a 80kmh corner going 180kmh. And even at that, they are so few and far in between. Last one we had was about 6 years ago, the guy was on crack, being chased by a platoon of cops and he was driving over front and back yards (lawns) and he ended up killing himself when the nose of his car went into the ditch while trying to get back on the road. He was going so fast his car flipped about 3 or 4 times.私は日本語を話さない

It could happen, but I find it highly unlikely in a large city. Here in Columbus, when the Good Guys Car Club and also when the Mopar Nationals came to town, they used to shut down a couple of roads and the cops would just hang out and let people line them up and lay them down. The city's insurance rates, the cost of paying the police to babysit, the risk to bystanders (because a blowout halfway down the track can easily throw a car into the crowd. There's no barriers along a city street, remember.) and a few other factors caused them to decide to stop. The club and the Mopar guys still hang out at the same spots, and the police turn a blind eye to some tire spinning, but there's no racing and no excessive speeding.
This past year, I actually took the coupe to check out the Mopars and kept getting hassled by some douche in an SRT4. He came out of a parking lot hard and just kept revving at me. I acted like I didn't even know he was there at all. I had a buddy with me and he kept telling me to shut him down. I said "He's got about 100 hp on me. I'd only be making the coupe look bad, and living up to the things they all say about Hondas." I did however, light them up when I hit the wet spot people were making so guys could break them loose. After a little tire smoking from the coupe it must have looked beastly, because the SRT4 stayed well back from me until we got away from the crowd, then he came flying by, cut me off and went from the right lane to the far left lane, just to show me how cool his ride was I guess. (There was no one behind me for blocks, so he didn't need to cut me off. lol)
I wish you luck in your endeavor, but in todays lawsuit happy climate, I don't think you'll get the city council or the police and fire departments to go along with it.
