Here is an idea (may benefit the site)

What if, maybe in the beginner section, or even all through the site, when you go to make a new thread, when you hit the submit button, having a pop-up or another screen asking if the user performed a search? That way it would eliminate useless posts by n00bs to bump up their counts?

    What do ya think?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Or at least have a search window popup and show similar posts about the title of the thread they are trying to create. Later

instead of a pop up warning, there was a pop up that punched them in the face? With spell check.

That would work... and it should have a tissue with it too.

people will just start ignoring it. i say just leave it alone, because sometimes something new comes up about a old subject and the person may not want to make a new thread in fear of being hit with "search button" comment. Also, even though some people ask the same questions, it keeps the forum active.

                    Lets face it...

We were all Noobs at one point in time. A this rate (7,000+ members), there will always be noobs, asking noob questions. Cant blame em... Shiet, I never used the search button until I kept on gettin flammed by peeps. Its like, I signed up here b/c I want to learn about my car, and I want YOU (those who know the answer to my question) To help me answer it.

Im one of those people who refresh the page every time I Inhale (once every 3 seconds) so I know which questions were already asked. Unlike others, who just come on to get help with one thing and then bounce.

It can have the feature, where there can be some dummy buttons, and an accept button too, and they all rotate to different areas

Even if you did that, how hard would it be to click "yes" when the real answer is "no"?

there is a difference between a lazy noob who expects to be spoon fed info then a noob who is not so lazy. how hard is it to understand that people have taken time to do research and create threads that have been stickied?? those are solid informations right there. if people do not even bother reading the stickies then what good are those info? i understand that information and something new may come out for the cb7s but wouldn't you want to add that info and update the old ones and help out other people instead of starting new threads? i dunno if there is or was a sticky about the basic mods like i/h/e but if there was and people did read them don't you think that there would be fewer separate threads about them? personally i'm getting tired of reading threads like "have anyone ever tried the ebay headers" or others like "i wanna cut my springs, what do you think?" if some of the members don't think its repetative then by all mean help spoon feed them info

personally i don't think the 30 post counts to be able to post elsewhere is perfected. i think there should be a quiz that allows you to post elsewhere based on the sticky infos. i rather see a member with less posts with good info then a postwhore who can only speculate. but....who am i to say anything

i say anyone with less than 1000 posts be banned. only if they have never really posted any uselfull info, or showed any signs of knowing how to use the function.

that would make the members list prolly shrink by half.
