How Many Gears Do You Have?

My friend has a 91 CRX and its an MT and its only a 4spd. My question is, are our CBs 4sd or 5? If they are 5, why would they make CRXs only 4spd but CBs 5spd?

Pt.2 - Why would/do they make ATs only "4spd automatic" and not 5? I kinda feel im getting scammed by them cutting me a gear. I mean it is an auto, but nonetheless.

Usually cheaper cars have less gears

cb7 are available in a 5-spd manual or a 4 speed auto

most autos didn't have 5 gears until more recently, now they have 6 and 7 gear autos, but in higher class autos

Im sorry Thats what i thought. But were MT CBs more $$ than AT CBs?? if not, then why are/were they ripping off the ATs?

automatics have 4 gears but they have an overdrive feature which makes up for the extra gear on the highway!!!!

correct, and manuals are always, if not almost always cheaper than autos.

Its common for autos to have less gears than their mt counterparts.

MT is better though, if you have the choice...

auto offers very little in terms of excitement

the only time I can spin my tires is when the road is wet and I gun it from a complete stop. Like today I did it about 4 times, hehe

I have 5 close-ratio gears.

M/T Cb's have 5.
A/T Cb's have 4, with an Overdrive.

Also, i believe only the Civic STD 88-91 had 4 gears.
Also CRX's came in 5 ... not too sure about the HF model.

Just for reference, A/T Cb's were more from the dealer than M/T ones.

Strangely, the manual transmission models usually sell for more now... mainly because the automatic transmission can be more problematic in an old car than a manual transmission.
