so who else on this forum believes the Maya... i mean, fuck they were smart enough back then to make their own calender just to see where they stood in comparison to time...... and some say that even their technology from back then can compete with ours today... anyway, December 21, 2012 is when this shit is supposed to happen... what do you guys think???

Honestly, I think it is speculatory at best.

The truth is, we have absolutely no way to see the future, nor do we have any way to predict where we are in relation to time.

They made educated guesses based on the technology they believed was accurate, just as we have.

The problem is this. What if the technology wasn't accurate? Or what it it was only 99.999999999% accurate?

When dealing with trillions of years worth of time, that fraction of a percent would equal at least several millenia. There is no way they could pinpoint a particular point in time.

I guess we won't really know till we get there though. Remember how everyone was so convinced Y2K was that particular point in time?

This even has repeated itself over and over in history.

People just need something to bitch about.

well, we dont have to be able to look into the future to know what's gonna happen... of course, we can't know for certain but if things keep going the way they're going then it's only a matter of time before we finish ourselves off... we've got so many problems that people fail to recognize or simply ignore... and im not talking about problems with our government being the way it is or anything here in the U.S. but problems around the world that may not be hurting us personally but as a whole.... and im not religious but i do believe in God, so i went to church just for kicks for like 3 months and man... they kept stressing about the second coming of Jesus Christ, that it was almost here... anyway, with all these prophecies that have come true and what this world has come to doesn't it make you wonder..... anyway, i've just been questioning a lot of things lately, not doubting, just questioning....
