    Remember 9/11/01

On the two year anniversary of the world trade center and pentagon attacks, along with the plane crash in Shanksville, PA, i would like to take a moment to honor the brave men and women who took their own lives trying to save the ones involved and every man, woman, and child who lost their lives that day. They tried to break this country apart at the seems, but only made the stitching stronger. i cannot walk down the street without seeing an american flag waving proudly outside a window or in a car. god bless the united states of america, and may good look out for each and every one of us, christian or muslim, black or white, *** or straight, so that we may all live out our days in peace, without the fear that something like 9/11/01 will ever happen to us again. thank you

I'm just glad that nothing major has happened since... I live in South Jersey, so I was right in the middle of the attacks (and fairly close to a nuclear power plant...) I had a few firefighter friends that went up to NYC to help out. That experience changed them forever.

I'm lucky enough not to have lost anyone in those attacks. I feel for those who now have to live without friends and loved ones.

Yeah, but remembering and not moving on are two different things. We remember Pearl Harbor... 9-11-01 is the same thing. We were attacked by foreign forces. That has only happened twice in the history of this country, and only once before 2 years ago. I'm not saying the Oklahoma City bombing wasn't serious, or Columbine, or any of the other major US tragedies, but 9-11 is significant for other reasons.
It's also important to remember it because the threat is still there. Bin Laden is still alive, as is Hussein, and people will continue to follow them. And now Israel is planning on ejecting Arafat, a move that MANY countries disagree with. I just hope that this "war on terrorism" doesn't turn into WW3...

Understandable... I only saw it on TV. I knew no one who got killed. I didn't cry, I didn't panic... In fact, I watched the first tower fall, and got in my car to go back to school (I guess my mind was a little preoccupied, as I still assumed classes would go on.)

I think it would be a big deal regardless of where it happened, since it was an attack from an outside force. Americans have always lived under an illusion of invincibility, and such an attack is a big deal... even more so in NYC than Pearl Harbor. NYC is part of the continental 48. I'm sure it would be just as big a deal if they took down the Sears tower. Sure, it wouldn't have been as dramatized if it were somewhere else, since the NYC skyline is such a famous image, but it wouldn't have been any less important.

Many parts of the nation stopped that day. Many major cities evacuated their large buildings. The restaurant that I work at was completely empty. Sure, everything didn't stop, but I doubt there were many people who didn't pause for a moment to see what was going on (and to reflect on how it could impact them)

Not really arguing with you, Ricky... I just enjoy discussions like these I'm voicing my opinion just the same.

i'm with fizzbob......i'm just so fuking tired of this shit......i mean..i'm really getting sick of 9-11, by brodcasting something abt it every fuking day since 9-11-01, its somehow generated hate against anything 9-11, i've avoided anything to do with 9-11, because it was jus over done, i feel horrible for the ppl who died and the family's who lost a lot, but then again dont expect me to jus sit here and moan and cry abt someother ppl who died. i'm sorry for what happened, but dont expect me to ruin my day for something which happened 2 yrs ago, get over it, move on. theres better things to do in life besides wasting time on crying abt past tragedy's.
