Actually Canada has given more independent rights to the people then the U.S.....I am glad you are happy to be an American....I am sure the Canadians are also happy to be Americans. I am with you on the union though, it would just be a disaster, not for reasons of identity though, but more for reasons of politics, money and power.....The U.S. would just fuck up Canada, not to mention destroy the beautiful healthcare system the Canadians have created for themselves, not to mention violating the sacred palace of privacy and taking the vote from the poeple and giving to those that only have money. I am sure Canada has some of those problems but they are not even close to the extreme as our government has gotten. This U.S.A. you speak so proudly of is not even owned by it's people anymore. It is owned by a few with large amounts of money, and most of those with the large amounts of money are not even U.S. citizens.
It is crazy how we have managed to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world. Lets not forget that Canada was also inhabited by the same people that came to the U.S. People looking for independence and freedom. Actually a lot of people left the U.S. and headed for canada to seek out independence and freedom after being put into slavery and poverty. In a way we are very much the same as Canada, filled with a bunch of people that originated from some other place and managed to migrate to the "Americas".
You can say that you are proud to be a American and all, but it really dosn't mean shit, the question that does have meaning is... "What have you done for you country since you popped out of your mother's pussy?" If the border between Mexico was erased, would that give all Mexicans U.S citizenship? How would we be able to pay for millions of homeless people from Mexico applying for cash and food assistance, AKA wellfare. Or even worse, we would have to pay for all of their hospital bills because they have no health insurance, or money to pay for it. The failing economy of Mexico could cause ours to fail.
