    Let's build a car for $2000 (theoretically)

I've been playing around all night, trying to come up with a car that would be fun to play around with... The goal is to have something lightweight and zippy that can be made into something fun for autocross and/or drift. A good aftermarket, obviously, is preferred...

The challenge is to keep EVERYTHING under $2000. That's the car, a suspension upgrade, tires (especially for autocross... amateur drift can be done on crap tires), and a bit of a bump in power.

RWD is preferred, though FWD and AWD are acceptable. The ideal car would be good for BOTH autox and drift.

Now, to make it fun... no speculation. Find a car. Find parts. Get REAL prices Show me what you can build for $2000. Explain why it's a good choice.

Am I really going to do this? Probably not... but it's kinda fun to speculate!

This sounds like the Grassroots Motorsports challenges they have every year...

I assume this will include the cost of the car, yes?

5spd CB7 shell (blown motor)- $100 (ACCLUDE91 did it, and it was RUNNING)
    F22B DOHC + Crower cams- $1100
    BOMZ coilovers+Illuminas - $400
    Straight exhaust- $200
    TOTAL: $1800

light, cheap, odd drifter/autoxer, parts are cheap and easy to find and swapable w/ mustangs.

86-93 injected ford 5.0 w/ t5 and ecu $600 junk yard or meet parts cheap and easy to come by.

good 9" rear end $100 any junk yard/ swap meet super strong.

              spool for 9" $100 (ebay) drifto-mcsideways.

adj suspension & shocks, use mustang stuff, $200-$700 on the shelf parts.

ok, so no h23 but instead how about a custom valve cover which is around $150, now that will look quite intimidating.

                              This is easy...

                              1993 Nissan Sentra Se-r 1,000

Intake , headers, exhaust , upgraded clutch... etc.. for another 1,000

                              or upgrade suspension...and boost

this is one car i wish i could have.. i used to have a sentra non se-r.. but i think this one has some potential...
