so yea, what is everyone majoring in?

have you ever participated in an internship/co-op? share you experiences!

also, if you have graduated with a degree in a particular field, what job(s) did/have you landed?




well, im a Marketing major at Georgia State Univ. in downtown Atlanta, GA. after i complete two classes this summer, i will have ONE class to take care of for the fall. im aiming to score an internship next semester so i dont waste 4 precious months working at my current part time job (dead end plus the fact that im not really into Retail). plus, id love some experience in the "real world" and hopefully find something that REALLY interests me for the long term! lol.

so, im that close to graduation, but guess what.....i have no fvcking clue what i want to do for a career! honestly, i feel i chose the correct major, as the subjects interest me, but every internship opportunity i have looked over all look the same to me.




im hoping some business admin/marketing heads will offer some advice, but all fields are welcomed to be discussed!

Im majoring in Engineering design and configuration managment. I am currently workin at an architectual firm in CT and I love it! I am drawing all the post offices for CT, RI, and MA right now...a huge project and I get to do a lot of traveling.
o ya and im a junior at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI

I am currently majoring in Marketing Communications at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. I am minoring in communications and concentrating in maybe history.

I am interning this winter in Denver, Colorado with my uncle who is a real estate invester who does complexes and houses for hollywood/big business individuals.

I hope that marketing brings me into the world of business that i like and i hope to be successful in both school and in future employments.

Graduate of Rutgers University... got my BA in Psychology (I always say it should be a BS... because it IS BS.) I also have an AS in Business from Camden County College (a better school than Rutgers by far!)

I plan on going back in the spring for teaching... possibly English as well (it'll increase my chances of getting a job as a teacher!)

My overall goal is to be a marriage counselor... but teaching psych or English will pay the bills, and I'll definitely enjoy it.


I never did any co-op. I never worked in my field... I HATE the low end psychology field. Working with the mentally handicapped is NOT my forte! The most I ever did was do research and write professional level reports. One professor was so thrilled with my team's work (which was all MY work, because they were morons and I redid EVERYTHING) that she wanted us to seek funding to take it further... too bad my idiot teammates corrupted the evidence.

Teaching in NJ pays like 42k a year, plus whatever extra I can get by doing clubs and whatnot... It's a HELL of a lot better than what I'm making now!

wow, that's actually pretty damn good for a teachers salary. From just seeing your postings on the site and the insight that you have, i think you would be a great teacher. I think you def. have some patience as well!

lol my fiance is majoring in psychology :P I wont be going to school tell they finish but only one more year and they have their doctorate done.

myself, I plan to head in for something might just do liberal arts so I can just be the first one in my family with a complete degree :P

ATA = Associates in Automotive Technology. with 7 certs behind ranging from General automotive to Transmission Specialist. Landed a job at Saturn of Burlington as a Automotive Service Advisor two days after graduation, did an intership at the local Cadillac dealership during my last quarter and I tell you what the intership didn't do jack for preparing me for what the real experience would be.

I have a BS in Food and Nutritian. I decided I didn't want to become a dietitian, so now I'm a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
Just thank us everytime you eat at a restaurant or buy grocery's. We are the ones who regulate the food industry for sanitation.....and hopefully prevent some of you from getting sick.
We also inspect and regulate public swimming pools, water parks, and a whole bunch of other stuff, even the water you drink.

I'm a semester away from my Chemical Engineering degree.

Two Co Op's under my belt.

1. Albany International - Research and Development - focused mainly on raising the molecular weight of a polymer through extrusion - my boss was an asshole.

2. WR Grace - Research and Development - Developed an method to be submitted to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to determine the thermal set time of concrete automatically using thermocouples...then I made the whole unit portable. Pretty sweet job actually.

3. The Shaw Group - Process Design - Haven't started yet, but I'm thinking its glorified data entry.

That's crazy, and you have your own house now making less? Awesome man, you are the master budgeteer...

I did Mechanical Engineering at Cooper Union. It was rough at times; I even thought about dropping out and just becoming a mechanic. Thankfully my friends held me down and I made it out, and I learned basic mechanic skills on my own time. Looking back, and looking ahead at the job I'm at now, I kinda wish I had done my masters, but I'm glad I finished and I feel it was a positive experience overall. Plus I have no student loans to pay off or anything, so my shoulders are light. Now I just have to excel at this job and push myself to impress all my bosses, and make up for the shortcomings I had during college to prove to myself that I can achieve what I feel I'm capable of...
