Wait...so you're telling me its easier to pass emissions with an OBDII motor in Mass than an OBDI motor?
Whoa.
much easier actually...its just harder to find a program you can tune an OBD2 ECU with.
And yes, i believe i get to keep the blown motor. im really not sure what i want to do with it yet. Mabye ill build it for boost in the future, but i wont be able to get the turbo parts until at least spring when i go back to work full time after the fall semester.
All i know is that LSD is sounding better and better...
some fun facts about the blown motor:
1. Broken crank and bearings
2. Bent Rods
3. Cracked piston
4. Scored cylinder walls
5. bent valves.

And it still ran! That folks, is why I drive Hondas.
This isn't a random occurence.
The D15B7 that was in my 1992 EG hatch was
1)boosted
2)with no additional fuel delivery over stock
3)with no ECU chip or timing change
4) with NO boost control
5) with no intercooler
If finally died not because of boost (it was boosting), but because the ghetto rigged oil return line failed and all the oil was pumped overboard. It still ran almost 30 miles home with no oil (the kid that owned didn't realize it was out of oil... ). On the delivery ride to ray ray's house it blew completely up (still no oil), sending engine parts all over the road. And it still started and ran...
Not to thread jack, but a GS-R with a B18C5, even if not the ultimately fastest, will still be a hell of a sweet ride, and reliable to boot.
Go for the C5. Isnt your car OBD2 also stock? Forgot what year but you will feel a real diff between GSR/R. Why get something you have right now when you can get something better?
I was thinking the C5 right away, reasons being stated already. But if you plan on turboing again, you could find a nice B18B and maybe rebuild your GSR head. If you're planning on staying N/A, then the C5 swap would be sweet! Good luck w/ your decison Eric You can probably part some stuff out that you don't use too
