Most of the other places in the world, it works with no problem, its only in America where people get so jealous over anything, and think they are god.

And you really wouldnt understand unless you have ridden one. If you hate driving your car in traffic, try doing it on a motorcycle. You have a machine that only gets hotter and hotter in stop and go traffic, and its between your legs. Most of the people sitting in traffic dont have to balance their car when it comes to a stop, nor do they really have to worry about the person behind them rear ending them as much.

Traffic in a car is just an inconvenience, on a bike, its a pain in the ass. To be safer on a bike, you really have to ride about 5mph faster than traffic. WHY? Because you dont want people riding your ass. Again, you wont understand until you have a soccer mom on her cell phone RIGHT behind you, and you want to slow down for a right turn...

Now I am not defending people who do wheelies through traffic, and weave in and out, but motorcycles dont need the room that cars do, so if there is a small gap where we can get ahead of someone into a better lane position, that is much better than sitting behind a slow moving car, with people slamming on their brakes behind us.

And maple, watch what you say. Quite a few have said that before, and I know they regretted it. Take this guy for example...

if i don have ac should i be able to pass everyone in traffic by usin the brake down (not were its legal)? if its all trucks and im in a honda should it be ok for me to squeeze thru them all and get ahead fo them?

lmfao....first off aero thank you very much for posting this..secondly why shud i go to hell just because i ride a cruiser?? granted its not as big or as noisy as some harleys can get but still...i like it..its much more comfortable than a crotch rocket, so i can take longer rides on it..i'm not a big fan of crotch rockets and would prolly never own one...but i like to ride my friends crotch rocket every once in a while, just for the adrenaline rush that you get from opening the throttle just a tad bit and already doing 50 mph like its nothing...pretty much all the people in my friends circle have crotch rockets, but none of em ride like assholes..maybe if its an open road or something...that's a diff story but still...i kno i prolly would be lane splitting too if i had a crotch rocket..these are just my $0.02 ...flame away..

here she is in all her glory.. HONDA POWA!!

again.. you wouldnt understand since you havent been on a bike. And obviously your examples make no sense at all.

Lane splitting in almost EVERY other country is legal, and they have no problem. As I said above, its only a problem here where we have road rage, since Americans only care about themselves, and if they cant do something, they dont want anyone else to be able to. It sucks, but america is full of low-lifes, and it always will be.

I cant say that I lane split.. since I dont ride the bike if I am in a hurry... since then I will want to, I have done it once, since old people dont know how to get out of the way, and block the lanes, but if anyone ever tried some jackass shit like opening a door or trying to hit me, I can guarantee that they would regret it for the rest of their lives. I am in no way a violent person, but if some loser tried something like that, it may just be their last.

I don't ride. I'd love to and I am looking into taking lessons and learning on a Kawasaki Ninja 250 cc bike. Small engine, but it keeps its value and can be sold to other beginners. Do people really get mad when you lane split? I never really had a problem with it while in my car.....

not all the time, but as you can see from some posts... some people dont like others doing something they arent able to, and get all hyped up about it. Its the same people that see you speeding in the wide open left lane, so they cut in front of you and do the same speed as a car next to them. They think it is their job to enforce the rules.

Learning on a 250 is the best thing to do. I rode mine for a little under a year, would have kept it for longer, but got a good deal on a cbr. Non riders always think anything under a 1000cc bike is just a small bike. I would love to see those people get on a busa and hit the throttle... looping it and busting their ass. Its usually after that happens that they think twice about just going along with the uneducated crowd.

I started on a cb 125 which I'm riding out here in MD while I'm on vacation. Next was a honda rebel 250, which I liked a lot. My dad has a suzuki 650, which is a really nice bike, they've come far from a bike like the little '81 125 I'm riding, or the older 93 suzuki my dad used to have.

People do really underestimate smaller bikes, but they think if they don't get the biggest bike available, that they are somewhat less of a man.

If you're not riding for enjoyment, you're riding for the wrong reasons. Don't choose your bike because it makes you look cool.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

I had a neighbor who used to let his chopper or whatever they're called idle for a good hour or so at 5 in the morning almost everyday for as long as I could remember. He'd often have a homie or two outside with him, just idling.

That said though Maple's comment is only reflective of his shortsightedness...I'm sure if his brother rode a motorcycle and someone did that to him he wouldn't have that same point of view. DON'T BE HATIN!

Eventually I wanna get an Aprilla or Ducati, just for a summer. I know they're inferior, but who cares...they're sexy as shit. I just hope I don't kill myself.

Yup, that is until they are schooled by a person on a smaller bike in the twisties.

The majority of "riders" in FL only do it to look cool. They also wear sandals and wifebeaters while they do wheelies in traffic. Anyone wonder why they are supposedly dangerous? I dont mind it.. seems like Darwinism at work.

Inferior as in slower than the Japanese superbikes for the money. A nice 450 or 600 would be awesome. I just love the look of those bikes, and Aprillas have a cool valvetrain system that has no springs...

And I'm sorry, but anyone rides a sportbike and says it's in no part to look cool is lying, especially in huge metropolitan cities. If that were the case they'd buy those big luggage holding BMW cruisers. I love the look of those Italian sportbikes, and they'd be nice to work with during the summer.

I find sport bikes to be very uncomfortable, they're fun, but my neck hurts when I ride them. I prefer slow-going cruisers myself.

I would have much rather had a dirtbike for a first bike.. or a dual purpose bike, but this area of FL = no place to ride a dirtbike. If there are open fields, the old people usually complain, so you have to own the place for the cops to not harass you. So needless to say, I got the street bike. Of course, now there are no twisties to ride through. I dont find sportbikes to be very uncomfortable, but then again, I dont get to ride as much for as long periods as others. Hopefully I will be able to find some twisties within a reasonable driving range sometime soon.

I never get any flack from lane splitting cuz it's legal in CA... Cars are for the most part used to seeing a bike cutting through in traffic. There are some close calls, but if you are an aware rider, it's all good.

And please, don't jumble all sport bike riders into the "crotch rocket thugs" classification. We are nice guys just like anyone else. Just like how most Harley riders aren't the Hell's Angels types. Yes there are the showy assholes who pop wheelies on the street just like there are Civics who want to drift and race and give the rest of the import community a bad rep. But riders like that are usually off bikes within a year due to an accident/idiocy.

P.S. I commute on the bike for school and ride the canyons on the weekends... And it's riding weather almost all year round... CA is awesome.
