I'm an atheist. Like deev said earlier, it's the scientific standpoint you almost have to take.
It's like how at the beginning of the thread, Acclude said he started out an atheist and then learned a lot about religion and became a Christian. I started as an atheist and learned a lot about religion. It only reinforced my atheism.- Ghosty

I dont know how they can sit there and say "this is what the bible says, so it must be true" without thinking about anything logicly. But i guess thats the power of brainwashing for you...i almost feel bad for them

Some see it as blindness and brainwashing, others see it as strong faith. Believing in something that you can't see or feel, based on a word, is the basis of religion. Faith is key, and is the most highly rewarded attribute in the Christian belief.
As I said before, it's all perspective. It's hard to look at someone else's standpoint, even when you try. Your own thoughts will always be corrupted by how you see things. People are not perfect.
That makes me wonder... if God is perfect, can He understand everyone's way of thinking? Would that mean that none of us are wrong? If God only saw things His way, and expected everyone else to comply, that would mean that he has a one-sided point of view... a flaw in human existance. If that is so, God is flawed. God has human attributes... which is the core belief of Satanism. Yay!
However, my interpretation of this one-sided point of view is that it is a flaw. That is the basis for my argument. Others may not see it as such. Perspective.

I agree to a point. i have NO problem with people who have strong faith, sometimes i even envy them. The moral aspect of faith is something i beleive has helped the world. The teachings of the bible on how to treat others and how to be a good person are not what i have a problem with.
Its ONLY the scientific aspects that i dont understand how they can be so blind to the world around them.
I think my brain works like a computer, a completely logical machine (mabye thats why i have a connection to them!). If i cant see hard physical or mathematical evidence, i have a HARD time beleiving it.
Some people think its strange that i dont believe in god, but i do believe in the following:
1. Extraterrestrial life
2. Karma
3. Time travel (space time, worm holes, etc)
4. parrallel dimensions (ties into number 5)
5. the multiple history theory (thats a fun one)
amoung other things...Last edited by Accord R33; 06-28-2006, 11:00 AM.

Do you have scientific evidence to support Karma? I'd be interested in seeing that. Karma is, so me, basically a superstition. Honestly, it's moreso the law of averages... If you do something bad to someone, there's an equally good chance that something bad will happen to you.
Have you ever read any of Kaku's books?

I am a sinner, I'm not perfect..... by a long shot. I've learned from my past mistakes, I think that we all do. The key is to be more mindful of Christ in our decisions, choose the correct path, and follow through. But it's really how I choose to live now that reflects "who I am." It is by grace that we will be saved, not by works...... no matter how "good" you are. IMHO1992 Accord LX - SOLD

Originally posted by maroonaccord2.2I agree with your statement. But..... God is perfect to me, he has no flaws. He is with everyone of us, at all times. Like you argued before, he created us in his "own image." And we are not perfect, it is because of our sinful nature that we as human beings make good and bad choices. The more that I know God, the more that I know what I should and shouldn't do to grow closer to him in my personal relationship.

You see things from the point of view of one with strong faith. Saying something is "not what you believe" is an intelligent dismissal of a concept. Saying something is "wrong" based solely on your own beliefs is ignorant and uneducated. (that isn't directed at you, maroonaccord2.2... you're participating in this thread as a devout Christian and keeping it civil. I admire that)
