Get an antenna that mounts on the side. I just picked up a CB radio myself.
It does come in handy...at least its free instead of a cell phone
, check your local RadioShack they should sell shorter antennas that have a wider reception.

Justin's right. Don't use Channel 9. It's supposed to be for emergencies only (but the hispanics around here just jive away on that beeyotch all day). I have a Uniden PC68XL on my F-150. Excellent radio. And my antenna is a Wilson 1000.
