NO don't fuck with 9! That's emergency only. Ch19 is what truckers use
Get an antenna that mounts on the side. I just picked up a CB radio myself.
It does come in handy...at least its free instead of a cell phone , check your local RadioShack they should sell shorter antennas that have a wider reception.

Not red neck at all man.
You know whats funny is i have a CB set up in the garage (my dad's) no one ever uses it though.
Now I remember talkin to truckers on 19. I was wonderin why 9 was circled on my CB. Right now my mic is broke...I can only listen to people when im keyed up.
Well I found a better looking fiberglass antenna. I think I need a new base because the one I have on there isnt that good but we will see when I get onto the interstate. I need some new equipment..what yall seen in the pics is 20 years old!
Justin's right. Don't use Channel 9. It's supposed to be for emergencies only (but the hispanics around here just jive away on that beeyotch all day). I have a Uniden PC68XL on my F-150. Excellent radio. And my antenna is a Wilson 1000.
