    I made my voice heard

I'm a NASCAR fan... I really don't care if you are or aren't. The point of what I'm trying to get at is that radio programming is aimed primarily at Football, plain and simple.

Now don't get me wrong, I like football just as much as the regular Joe Schmo but I don't need to hear 3-4 different times that McNair is going to most likely go to Baltimore.... I mean.... JEEZ I think I got it the first time.

The race yesterday got rained out... so I couln't watch it obviously. The ran it today @ noon. The problem with this is MOST of America goes to work Monday morning. So I try and listen to it on the radio while I'm at work.

There are 3 sports radio stations on the FM dial that do sports 24/7 365 days a year. There is 1 AM station that does sports maybe once a week for the duration of a NASCAR race... and that's only on big races (such as this week's race).

Guess what all 3 sports radio stations talked about ALL DAY LONG?! You guessed it, football. Guess what station was playing the race? You guessed it... 650 AM

650 AM!!!!!!!!!! I mean... does my radio even pick that station up?! The answer..... no

OK, so you might say, "That's the only station that plays NASCAR". Wrong. When 650 AM doesn't play it, one of the FM stations does... one in particular.

In addition to this, that same FM station plays Race shows that have people call in an talk about the race, ask questions, and even talk about rumors that are floating around the garage (no different than any other sports talk show) with even the occasional driver call in. Great programming.

Guess what time these programs are played (previously recorded and played at a later time)..... 8pm-9pm for one show and 10pm-12midnight on the other. And it's only 1 day a week! Shit.. WHO IS UP AT THAT TIME LISTENING TO THE RADIO?!

Where do you listen to the radio the most? At work or in your car.... NOT IN YOUR FREAKING HOME!!!! MOST people are HOME at the air times they have.

Anyways... to the subject title. I wrote in to the FM station I'm talking of an suggested that they air the programs at more reasonable times.

Will it help? Probably not. But at least I voiced my opinion. They will never know unless people step up and use their voice.

Bitching about terrestrial radio sucking is like bitching about high gas prices. It's always going to suck fucking ass. Just fuck it and get SIRIUS. BEST programming of any radio technology. NO bullshit about it costing alot, it's a fucking steal for what you get.

I hear ya.. we have a crap load of "sports" stations down here and all I hear about is the Phx Suns or the Oh great and powerful AZ Cardinals (insert sarcasm here). The only time ANY nascar news is talked about is if someone dies or the is a big enough crash that morbid minds just have to see it.Cant forget the local DJs too.. If they do report a nascar event they always have to do it in a redneck voice... wtf.
