    Epoxy garage floor

Has anyone done their own garage floor in epoxy? I've really been considering doing my own garage just wanted to see if it was a PITA or if anyone had any tips/tricks/suggestions.

yes, i epoxied mine with stuff from home depot (blue with flakes lol. my floor is rice) anyways, its easy the biggest pain in the ass is clearing out the garage (for me at least) i definitely recommend it though, i used to paint in my garage and man, epoxy kept all the dust and overspray down and cleanup was sooooo easy. i recommend it.

It works like a charm. Mine isn't epoxied, but I have painted other's floors with it, and my best friends is.

Just make sure the garage floor is free of grease. Apparently, it doesn't last if it is greasy. A lot of people end up acid washing it first.

my parents garage floor is crumbling... its solid enough to work on and its solid enough that they dont care, but i keep trying to convince them to lay a new layer of concrete so i can epoxy it but it sucks that no matter how much you sweep it, it will forever be full of sandy gravel and RELLY SMALL RAWKS!!

yeah, its good stuff, but as with any painting project, the end result is only as good as the prep work.

I would recommend acid washing the concrete before, and letting that dry. You will also want to use 2 layers like it says on the can (normal 2 car garage will need 2 gallon kits).

We only washed our floor with some detergent stuff, and only did one coat. It lasted for like 6 months, but I treat it like crap, and it has stains and sometimes peels where the front wheel of hte jack rolls when lifting a car. But follow the directions correctly, and it works great.

              Acid wash is the key.

I previously worked in a garage that had this done and it looks sharp, but works well.
