Well a week or so ago some old fucktard decided to back into my car. His fault....now the insurance company tells me to send them the title and they'll give me $750 for the car because it's totaled. They aren't going to give me anything for the wheels, lip kit, engine, exhaust, etc.... etc.... F'n asshats... Just needed to rant...Anyone know how I can make these cumbags give me more than $750 and not salvage my car? This really pisses me off. The estimate was for just under 2 G's,........ end rant

Give the estimate to the old fart and make him pay btw thats why i dont put all that shit on my car in the firstplace because when its ruined you wont get it back what you put into it. On the other hand if its stock you can crush it and bring it back and stock oem parts arent hard to find but when you start addin lips and the 17inch rims and breakin the lip and bendin the rims and body kits all that grill not needed stuff kinda makes you wonder if someone wreckless cracks my shit will i get my money back will i even get another replacement part.

$750 for the ride oh hell no i rather take a loss than get rid of the cb7. I hate insurance they are the biggest ripoffs in the world for people who actually try to keep up with their own cars make the guy pay for his mistake outta pocket take pictures and fix it up yourself . Son remember always my neck ...my back...

first, is it your insurance company or his insurance company that wants to pay it out?
second, how many miles are on your car?
third, don't overestimate your wheels, lip kit, engine, and exhaust. you may think they're worth a whole lot, but knock off wheels and lips don't fetch much in person, let alone through an insurance company. add to that, you need to provide receipts for what they're worth. once you do that, expect about half that amount. as far as the engine goes, i wouldn't expect much the car can't conceivably be driven without one, thus there's not as much a claim for "aftermarket" (considering you could blow a stock engine, and replace it with an h22/23/f20b/etc. as easily as just wanting to swap an engine).
fourth, if the estimate was for close to 2k, then i can see why the insurance company would total it out, as likely your car isn't worth much more than that in it's stock form.
fifth, start finding your receipts now so that you can present them to the insurance company. type up a simple document (like a member's ride format) of what was in/on the car, and what each aftermarket part cost. of course, you can only obtain payment for parts which you can show a receipt.
sixth, go through the other person's insurance company, not your own. the other insurance company has the obligation to repair your car to the level it was at, or total it out to the level it was at. your own insurance company's obligation is to repair it to stock form, or total it out to stock form.
absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Yeah it's through his insurance company. At this point I don't care about not getting the full amount of the estimate....I will NOT total it out and recieve a salvaged title though. I've allready pretty mush got it all fixed, all it needs is a little bit of paint now....pretty much the same condition it was in preaccident...except for the month old hood with a crack in it....I will repair the hood anyway as the crack was to the hood's frame(the bottomside) and there is no visible defects to it....

You can probably tell them to give you the total they can give you without totalling the car out. I know of a couple people that have had the insurance company "total" their car and the insurance company told them so much percentage of the car of the value is totalled, so they took right under that percentage.... you understand what I'm trying to say?
Either way.. If they salvage it, you can buy it back cheap. So it'll have a "salvage" title... who cares if you don't sell it again

man your american insurance policies suck ass. i had 5000$ damage front end on my car even before my swap, when it was just about a bone stock 90. and it was covered, i only have 1 way, and of course i wasn't reponsible, but yeah, i own. sucks about your shit, just get it fixed yourself.
that included towing/storage, hood, headlights, corners, signals, bumper, both fenders, radiator, anything in the surrounding area, bent chassis, left driveshaft, fog lights (which i had to sourse myself), sub frame, and other misc items around the front.Last edited by DeathFromAbove; 04-12-2006, 02:22 PM.

Don't get me wrong, I love working on my car, and starting projects and the feeling of utmost joy you get after finishing them, it's just this experience has made me realize how easy it is to loose everything I've put into modding my cars. Suppose they had hit me at 40 MPH and put a hole in my block and cracked the head....what then? Imagine how much more I'd be out. Like I said I do plan on picking up another project car if I get rid of thisone, but it's just so easy to loose it all because some idiot wasn't watching what they were doing while you are driving your daily driver that you've put 5 times what the car is worth into and way way much more time than that. It's not like I could have avoided this accident. We were both at a stop sign, him in front of me, an off duty officer behind me. So I was in the middle. He pulls out to turn, I pull up the car behind me pulls up. He decides to stop in the middle of the road and start backing up because his wife tells him to turn the other way. I start honking and back up as much as I can without hitting the car behind me....he keeps coming anyway.....Like I said..Oh well.....Nothing I can do about it, except hope they at least kiss me a little bit while they have my pants down raping me with a telephone pole......
