    im pretty sure the seller has to deal with ups to get the claim not the buyer

      Absolutely. The buyer doesn't have a business relationship with UPS, the seller does.

        i have no problem dealing with ups for the guy... but i am not going to give him the full $175 that he is asking for, since he did not opt to pay for the added insurance. its common knowledge that the basic insurance only covers the first $100 of any shipment. so that is what he will get.
