    Package delivery certainly isn't.
i would say it is, your package is never guaranteed to be delivered if insurance is not purchased by the buyer..i mean if your a constant ebayer and buy items over 100 bucks you should understand this conception. Personally, whenever i sell items on ebay that go for over 150 or so, i make insurance a priority, the buyer is forced to purchase it with the rest of the shipping costs..it just secures myself and the buyer, and makes sure that even if the item is never recieved then the buyer is still secured for $$, and i don't have to fork anything out of my own pocket.

I've actually never experienced shipping out a lost package nor ever buying anything off of ebay or anyone on here that has gotten lost either. But again, this is why UPS and USPS and every shipping distributer has signature confirmation, trackings numbers, and insurance..so these types of things are covered if purchased.

Personally, i don't think Dr Love is at fault at all. The buyer opted not to buy the insurance and therefore it is their loss in the end, because they did not want to splurge for the extra few bucks. Dr. Love maybe should have offered and pointed it out in the auction, but ultimately it is the buyer's responsibility to make sure that they purchase all the necesscities in order to recieved their item.

It basically comes down to: buyer did not protect themselves with insurance. basically if package is not found buyer only recieves 100 bucks. oh well, will know better next time that items in higher price ranges should have insurance.

Right....you're concerned about paying, because you're liable, obviously.

But then you switch, and put the onus on the buyer.

I agree, the buyer should take it up with UPS...after all, it was they who lost it.

I think its best its not to get involved just let ups handle and reiemburse you on the cliam because trying to do shit. Sometimes people steal all and all but you never know maybe your box got ripped or crushed . They take those packages and keep em and you get your money back in full after you make the claim unlike fedex and shit yaknow. BUt rest assured they have loss prevention prolly has your merchandise you sold off.

I was also told by fedex a while back ago that you can't get insurance unless you have a recept for it anyways.

ultimately it is the buyers best choice to buy insurance and make sure that it is allocated on their items. However, i said that i include it on items that are over 150 bucks on my items on ebay. I still put the onus on the buyer, its just that their required to pay for it, because I GIVE THEM NO OTHER CHOICE.

Just let UPS deal with it, its not your fault, because you owned up to your end of the deal. From now on though, I'd offer that optional 3-4 dollars of insurance, just to cover your butt.

from what Ive gained reading this thread, he did offer the insurance, and the buyer did not take it.

its not the sellers problem either - so this is what i would do - offer to help him with the claim -- his ebay/ paypal payment is his receipt - it shows what he paid for that item

make clear how upset you are over "all this mess" and apologize for the inconvenience, but remember to stand your ground and on the fact its no more your fault than it is his, and that unfortunately by not paying for additional insurance, this is the best you can do

the point in the end, is the fact that you are offering to help in the first place - as many sellers would just say "oh well, sucks to be you"

as per ebay rules you're not required to do anything else - so this, by far, is more than what is expected -

I really have had less good luck with ups than bad ... so i generally stick with the postal service unless its heavy

PS - id ship USPS next time and include complimentary insurance for all items over say $100 (the extra couple bucks you pay is worth it)

if you made a paypal payment or sent a money order and can show that with your winning auction information/ invoice -- thats a receipt -

I've got the same problem with UPS. Its been about 3 weeks and still nothing.

I was the buyer, and my package got lost.
Well, apperantly i cant do anything about that. The seller has to file the claim.

In total with shipping i payed $102, so lets see how much i get back.
