For the OG gamers... what are your top 5 favorite NES games?

I know this might be dating myself a bit... The original Nintendo Entertainment System was the thing to have when I was a kid. I got mine when I was 7 years old. Hell, I even joined the Nintendo Fun Club (which turned into Nintendo Power magazine... I have the first 100 issues). I was the Nintendo kid in my gradeschool class... always reading magazines and designing games rather than paying attention to the teacher.

But anyway, I just recently got back into playing the old games. I figured, why not see what everyone else likes? Here are my top 5 at the moment (one or two of them may change from time to time...)


1. The Legend of Zelda (always #1 in my book!)
2. Metroid (still an amazing game to this day)
3. Crystalis (WAY ahead of it's time!)
4. Dragon Warrior (my first true RPG)
5. Contra (up up down down left right left right B A start )

Even though my all time favorate games are on PC:
1: Commander Keen 1-4
2: Cyber Empires
3:Sim City (all of them but 2000 is best)

Damn, I forgot MegaMan! That's one of my top too!! Perhaps Dragon Warrior should fall to a runner-up spot...

Final Fantasy 3... JDM only? The one we got here was for the SNES (but it was technically FF6)

FF3(6) for the SNES is what got me hooked on the FF series. I still can't really get into the original ones on the NES.


Oh yeah, another game that gets an honorable mention for the NES is Mother (the original Earthbound... it's just as good as the SNES one!)

1) double dragon 3 ( me and my boy used come home and play this everyday after school in 5th grade)

And yeah, the Konami code was the best... Worked on Ikari Warriors too, didn't it? Or was that just the ABBA regeneration code that worked...

Kung Fu was my second game ever! Top Gun was the first (and damn is that a hard game!)

GI Joe was great. I rented it and loved it. Never owned though.

Iron Sword is easier to play, but not quite as good as it's predecessor... Wizards and Warriors. THAT was a great game!
