Bringing back the ads... hopefully.

Ok, I'm now searching for new companies that offer text advertising, much like our previous Google Adsense ads. I promise I won't put anything obnoxious on here!

So far, my main interest is BrightAds by Kanoodle. It seems to be just like the Google program, only with even better features. Hopefully they'll work out!
The ads should be taregted to the content of the board, so I'm hoping to have lots of automotive-related stuff. If you find something interesting, click on it! However, I ask that you don't click repeatedly on ads to help the board... that may end up resulting in the account being cancelled. In other words, going out of you way to help will not be a help! If you feel the urge to directly help support the site, I'll gladly accept a donation!

Hopefully this program will work well for us. If the site can start generating some income, I'll be able to do more things!



So, this is my announcement. The ads will not be all over the board... No links in the body of posts, nothing between posts, no flashy banners or crappy popups... just text ads at the top (and/or bottom) of the page.

The old ads bothered some people... I had people threaten to leave, people complaining that the 3 lines of text were slowing things down... people said I was selling out... etc...

That's why I'm filling you guys in beforehand this time around. Positive reactions like these are what I like to see!



Keep in mind, if the board pays for itself, rather than my empty pocket, there will be potential for a lot of improvement. Contests (with prizes), official cb7tuner products (tuning products, not just shirts and keychains), site upgrades, etc... Not that any of that is definite, but having the site provide income will certainly increase the chances!

I, for one, didn't mind the ads. This is probably the only forum I'm on that DOESN'T have ads.

Regardless of whether you bring them back or not, expect a donation from me in the coming month...

Steve originally wanted to have NO ads on this site. He actually got a little upset when I added the Google ads last time. I understand his reasoning, but the ads will help a great deal. Seeing as I'm paying for this myself (while working pretty much part time, and trying to pay my mortgage and other bills) it really does secure the future of this place. As long as the site is making money, I won't have to worry about paying for it. So if I fall on hard times, I won't have to risk losing the site!

For the complainers about ads they can go download an ad blocker program I use avant and i have that feature it kills all annoying ads. But I'm fine with ads here if its to help us grow bigger and add new things to the site.

BrightAds DOES have a popup program. I'm considering using it on the main page once I get it ready. I'll have to test it out and see if it's really irritating or not! I signed up for everything (hopefully they'll approve the site!) so we shall see!

The company seems very professional, so I'm sure everything will be seamless. I'm hoping they have color options so I can make the ads work with the site design!
