I have an idea to help better the site

Iv recently been trying to search the site to find certain things and found that its proven fairly difficult.

    here is my proposal...

For all threads that might help someone in the future, i suggest we make a single post dedicated to only keywords. (mabye a mod or something) can add a post to the end (or edit the first post in the thread) that contains a bunch of keywords.

    example:
if someone has a thread about their clutch not working, someone (mabye a mod or something) can add a post to the end (or edit the first thread) that contains a bunch of keywords like:

    Code:
clutch; master cylinder; slave cylinder; bleeding; bleed; pedal; no pressure; dead;....you ge tthe point
I believe this may help the search results, if you sort your search by relevance.

that's a pretty good idea. although i think many of us have become quite good at searching for things and if we really can't find it, then i think it does merit a new fresh topic, that would have fresh, current, perhaps more experienced responses than in a topic that might be 3 years old filled with hosted pictures that no longer work and unable to contact certain members because they no longer frequent the site.

but yes i could see this helping either way. although in order to add these keywords in...we would have to have found these hard to find topics already...sorta like looking for a flashlight with a flashlight...if you have one, then you don't need it.

seems like a good idea but i would only add key words the threads that were full of info, not everyone of them.

a valid point. however i dont think making it retroactive would be very efficient unless there was a whole team of people doing it. I was thinking more along the lines of "from now on"

I like this idea. Although with a little patience you can really find anything pertaining to CB7s on this site.

Another thing we can do is get together an FAQ like this: http://maxmods.dyndns.org/ - pretty rudimentary stuff, no bells or whistles, and it's all really easy to find. I'd love to get involved with something like that for CB's...I already have some stuff I've done in Excel...

Like i have posted before, i have a full wiki setup. the only thing stopping me from putting it to use, is that hosting it off my laptop is just not stable enough, and there is just SOOOO much information on this site i couldnt lay it all out by myself...i was getting frustrated.

If I can manage to ever get my Google account back, I'll put a Google search on here That's a little better than what we have!

But yeah, that's a good idea, Eric. Of course, all the keywords are already IN the post, if the question is relevant. It should always appear with the search anyway. People just need to learn how to search. Sometimes you need to try another way!

it's already been done in the wheels and tire section...
