    Rant: For sale section

If you do not post the price in your for sale thread and make people pm you for a price, you know you are asking too much!! If you were not what the problem with posting the price.

    #2
The whole point of posting a price is to set what you want to get from it, or are willing to take minimum..

just take on OBO if you think it might go higher.. so that way if someone posts with a better offer, you can let the buyers fight it out..

this isn't ebay.. we can all see the prices and who is paying what. no reason to be secret..

or maybe people don't post the price because there are too many cheap people who don't want to pay what things may be worth. thus, rather than posting a price and having no response, they get a greater response with this method.

besides, if you can't meet the price of the seller, it's irrelevant whether the price was posted or not.

example: the local ferrari dealership doesn't post the price of the newest modena in the paper, or have huge glaring stickers in the windshield like the cars at the used auto place around the corner.
      should i be upset?
should i state that they know they're asking too much since they don't post a price?
or should i just accept the fact that i likely won't be able to afford the price of the seller (ferrari dealership) anyway, and thus it's a moot point?

if you have a price, and it's lower than what the seller wants, too bad for you.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I agree dude. I hate when people go pm me with offer and then they say no low balling. So how can you make an estimate on a price if there is not set price? You call someone a low baller who is only giving the price he/she think is right in the manner of the sale. Just makes no sense IMO.

I dont know what a seller wants because I would never pm someone for a price. I just think they would lose alot of interest by having the buyer work for a price.

Exactly, the posted price is usually a minimum.

There is stuff on here I would have spoken up about except for that the posted price was either more than I wanted to pay or more than I had available on hand.

That's why it's nice to have a posted price, only people that have the money you are looking for will PM you..

Prices.. yeah, kinda is annoying, but they are selling, so if it slows them down in selling stuff, so be it. When I put something up for sale w/no price... or best offer... its usually whatever amount will take it.

The fact that its a buyers market pretty much now (since there is more stuff for sale then being bought), gives a better chance that the person w/o a price will be passed up for someone offering pics and a price.

anyways, people that put "pick up only" or have huge parts or something, yet dont include a location, that gets annoying! but oh well. Not to mention not having pics. There are cameras in phones, in pens, in eyeglasses... and you are telling me that you cant get pics for a few weeks.. guess you dont wanna sell

The only reason I dont list prices is because I have a whole damn car to part out. I usually PM them w/ some kind of price before they'd PM me. I am very understandable and considerate when it comes to working out prices for the people i've sold to, i'm also reasonable when it comes to that point as well. Most of my stuff that i've sold is a little lower than what you could get on ebay. But yet some people get pissed if I mark something to high because of the dimensions of the box i'd have to get to ship it. But anywho later..

Honestly, who cares? If someone has something you want, and no price listed... send them an offer! If they have say... a set of wheels that you're willing to pay $400 for. You offer $400 when no price is listed, and they want to get $500. They'll say no. OR they'll consider your offer. When I first put my hatchback up for sale, I wanted to get about $600 for it. Now I'm down to $200... basically based on what people have offered me.

So, bottom line is: if you don't like it, don't bother with the sale.
