    My Aunt is Hawwwwt!!!

Ok, this question is for the computer nerds. Is there a way in windows to securely "lock" a folder with a password? The reason I am asking is because I have lots of naughty pics I don't want accidently being opened when I'm showing my family pics during the holidays. get my drift?

If anyone can help, please let me know.

    Peace be with you.

    Amen.

    create the folder
    right click on the folder
    left click on properties
put a check mark in the hidden folder
    click apply
    click ok

Now the only way to get into the folder is to go through the run command.
It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

Go run to Walmart and pick up a cheap flash drive the plugs into the USB and save the pics there. That way you can remove the pics by pulling the plug, they won't be on your hard drive any longer. Some flash drives come as a keyfob or a pen.

You can also take the pics on the flash drive and put the pics on a buddy's computer easily and set a dirty pic to his desktop background.

in folder properties, can't you select "show hidden files/folders", tho?

I use a folder deep system. mine are all in a folder, filled with other folders, and then about 5 folders deep, labeled as video games.

I miss the days of compressed zipped folders.. I used to put it in one of those and password it. that was windows 95 though >.>

I don't think you can anymore. Trust me I tried. 8 gigs is alot of less than acceptable material to hide just with a folder deep system.

magic folders uses password protection to hide and unhide folders from a program, or you could just add the files to a winrar or zip archive and password it, then delete them from the folder and just keep the zip

Simply marking the folder hidden may not be acceptable, because yes you can mark show all files and folders.

Let me ask you, are you the only user on the computer or are there multiple users? Windows XP has a built in password protected encryption feature. It allows you to encrypt folders with a password. I encrypted several folders this way, but I'm the only user on this computer and it never asks me for the password. I believe it only asks users who didn't encrypt it originally, see what I'm saying? So encrypt the folder(s) and password protect your username, then if necessary, create a new user for everyone to use to view pictures or whatever.

That shows MS's article on the subject.

Also when you have a mulitple user system you can lock user files (c:\doc's and settings\USERNAME\*) so when logged on as another user you cannot access other users files. Right click the folder and under sharing mark it as private.

Outside of all that there are some freeware programs that allow you to password protect files and folders, but it's usually best to try to stick to windows' built in features if you can. Otherwise, go wild.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

i'd make a folder in one of the 'program files' in one of the less used programs folder named pictures, or something to that effect. The best would be for a game because some of the games really do have a folder named that.

Hmmm. Thats almost what im looking for. But I would rather have the folder secured by a password whenever it is accessed. even if im logged onto my account, ya digs?

anyways, heres some pics of my hawt aunt!!!! shes sweet, so enjoy bishes!!!

you could set folder permissions for other users, create a user account for someone else, add them to the folder permission and deny access to that user, set a password for your account, let everone else use the other account. bingo problem solved. I do this with my brother to keep him out of areas he doesnt belong on a computer downstairs.
