At my job I handle one our biggest accounts which happen to be in Canada. They make huge orders ranging from $2500 - $20,000 and they pay a ass load for shipping charges from the US and especially from China using UPS. They can get their stuff shipped cheaper but when your merchandise is that expensive you pay extra for the insurance which gives you a piece of mind(in case of reimbursement) and thats the only reason to use UPS to ship international. In this case, it doesnt work the same, just gets way too costly.1993 Accord LX - Sold

2003 Accord V6 6spd Coupe - Sold

i am guessing since you run a buisness you dont cheat customs. marking the value of the package under $20, and sending the package as a gift should get something thru easy, when its of smaller size. i told the dood i bought lowering springs off of to do that, with ups, and guess what. i payed no customs or duty charges. i dont know if they changed things in the new year, i highly doubt it, due to the fact the postal system hasnt gotten any better in the last couple thousand years. anywho, i bet owequitit sent the package against the requests above customs skipping wise. and there gents, is the problem.

DV8: If I remember correctly it was marked under $20.00 and it was labeled as a gift. Our shipping dept did the paperwork, so I don't remember exactly what he valued it at. Perhaps he thought $50.00 was the cut-off. There apparently was no duties or tariff assessment, and if so very little because, the amount you owed seemed to come very close to just the brokerage fee.
Steve B: Duties and Tariffs depend on which way you are crossing the border. Which you already know. If you are entering the US then you pay US tariffs. Perhaps the Canadian tariffs are higher.
Besides, it is a moot point. I won't ship USPS for reasons previously stated. Too much stuff just disappears never to be heard from again. Try getting a straight answer back from the US Government, let alone money for a package that disappeared. That is for domestics. I would rather pay the fees. Had I double checked ahead of time, I would have been aware of them.
It is just a general cluster f***. Everybody contributed, everybody messed up.
