Regardless if the same type of song has been done just make sure you write from the heart and don't listen to music when doing it. If you can play the piano or guitar do that. This makes your lyrics come out smooth and original. I write music also and when I do I make sure I don't have a song in my head and try to make an original beat. You might say "Yeah Right" but I have a song that is being considered by LaFace Records. When I went to CEI (Computer Education Institute) the program director was a former member of a group called "4-pm". I don't know if you will remember their song "Sukiyaki". He read the song and he wanted to introduce me to his friends from LaFace. I did and they liked the song. If all goes right I will have a writing deal with them. But just remember to make it yours no matter what. I stayed away from the cliche and just thought from the heart. Hey who knows......
