If you bought something like that, an adjustable bench, an olympic bar, and dumbells, you could have a decent workout. With the bars the way they are in that rack, you wouldn't even need a spotter because if you failed, it would just land on the bars. If I was going to buy a home gym, I'd buy something like that or a rack with a cable system as well.

But hey, its your money... looking around for all of that stuff at the cheapest prices may be more of a hassle than just buying a machine. Just my opinion.

you do know that you can buy different "power rods" for the bowflex, I think they go up to 410 lbs. I dont know to many people that besides their max can bench over 410lbs thats over 4 plates a side with a 45lbs bar with free weights.

^ I know quite a few people who can...then again, I'm a college football player. I myself can not, but i could easily kill what came on the bowflex. Also "leg press/squat" (I forget what the bowflex guide calls it) on bowflex is a joke...and yes I do need more than 410 for that...

Now that my personal rant is over, I'm sure bowflex is great if you are just starting out or want to get toned. If you dont have time to go to the gym, I'm sure this is a decent solution. Also, dont forget to do cardio...its a very important part of being healthy/in-shape.

yeah i would hope that you would need more then 410 lbs to do squats and if you can do 410 lbs doing leg press you have to have some HUGE lugs I wish I could press that much!

It is really up to you I would suggest tring to find one of each or everything that you are looking at and working out on them and see what works for you everybody is different me I love the bowflex as you can see above some people don't it is all personal and your work out style. good luck with your choice just get one cause nothing can beat the post work out feeling!
