I have a Nikon F75 SLR. My digital camera is a Sony V1. I like them alot. The Sony has a CARL ZEISS lens which allows it to take great pics. Remember, the most important part of ANY camera, digital or film, is the lens. Pixels are NOT the most important thing. The Mars Rovers which are still up there taking pics have only ONE megapixel cameras. However, their lenses are the best that money can buy (and made in Guelph, Ontario, Canada).

Anyway, I recommend the Sony after 2 years and more than 30,000 pictures with it.
      YEP. I AM Canadian.
1990 Accord EX 220,000 KM. Essentially stock with 15" alloys and chin spoiler added. K&N filter and Bosch plugs. ICE COLD A/C which I love!

1992 white EX 4 dr, 5 spd. (602,000 Kms and I JUST RETIRED IT. SO SAD!) DEC 9TH, 2005 - MAY 31, 2012. I added 229,000 kms to it. Great car!

I know it isn't "small" but, for under $600 dollars, in my opinion this Panasonic is the best quality camera you can get. It is the digital camera i use time to time when i can get my hands on it. The most important part about it is that it does come with a Leica DC-VARIO ELMARIT 12x zoom lens, equivalent to a 35-420mm on a 35mm camera. Which if you ask anyone who knows about photography, is one of the best lenses in the world.

        The 12x DMC-FZ10 compared to the 10x Olympus C-750UZ.

But like i said above, if you want more of a SLR, i'd definetly get a canon. Their build quality is the best of your list. Good luck with your choice.

ill vouch for the fuji s5100.
good camera, has auto settings, but you can also control your aperture, shutter speed, iso, white balance, etc. and it has a 10x zoom
i also have the fuji e510 and it can do those things as well, but it doesnt have as long of an open shutter as the s5100, and the zoom isnt as good. however, the screen on the back is really big, and it takes great photos and is 5.1 mp's.
regardless, invest iin a tripod, it helps.

Wow, thanks guys...the response has been so great.

I think I am going with the Canon Powershot SD550. My old GF taught me a lil bit about apperture, etc. so i will be using the cam for all sorts of applications.

                THANK YOU GUYS
