    Runnin Doom on XP

OK, another computer related queston... After hearing about this new doom movie (that I have yet to see) I started to think about the classic doom 2 game. I installed it on my PC (with windows XP) and I cannot get it to run right. The sound is all messed up. It worked back in the day of Win 98, what is the problem?

Win98 was still DOS based. Xp is not. I think there are emulators available so you can run old DOS programs correctly.

Anyone have one of these emulators? Or link me to somewhere that I could get one from?

      Thanks

Yep, I can't get old Doom to work either

Well, I got Doom 2 to work, but it was never perfect.

you try right clicking on the exe click properties then go to the compatibility tab and select win 98/95?

The lack of sound is because the sound cards you guys have don't have native DOS support. Kinda hard to have DOS support when nothing is DOS based anymore

I can run Doom, Doom II, and Final Doom on my system w/ XP just fine, however I bought Doom Collector's Edition, so that's probably why. If you really want it to work, I'd suggest that.

I'm not buying another copy of Doom2. I have an original on 5 floppy disks.

I have the demo on an old Apple PC in the basement. I just picked up a Pentium III machine (GateWay) and right now Im to figure out how to run the OS off the A drive.

                            Dont see it!!

Its really not worth the 10 bucks to go see the movie. Trust me! I totally regret spending the money to see the movie. Its more of a DVD movie...when it comes out rent it at blockbuster or something...or download it? Spend the money on gas instead.
