But wait, it got better. I know how you guys like a good train wreck ...
What follows is a transcript I had with the seller. I thought that was a big
enough deal to let the seller know, because of the different bolt
pattern.
When I first saw the ad I thought, "wow, I don't recall seeing those
on any CL. Nice."
If you click the link you can see the rims, and the first question
by "John" asking if the seller would be willing to ship, despite the
ad saying local-pickup only.
When the seller expressed interest in shipping (but was going to put
everything in one box) I got interested, but wanted to let the seller
know that shipping 4 smaller boxes would be cheaper and easier. I
also ended it positively, "I really like your rims." I don't have
that part of the transcript.
But then I got to thinking, "haven't I seen those rims afterall?
Aren't those Integra rims? Uh oh.
So here's my next question, and you can see it on the auction listing:
Q: Also: Are you absolutely CERTAIN these are from a CL, and not from
an Integra?
A: These are definitely CL and they are currently on an Integra. Let
me know if you want more pictures. I will cooperate with shipping
arrangements you make as long as shipping supplies are paid for by
the buyer. If you know someone local, send them by to check these out
in person.
Me: The 4-lug CLs have a 114 bolt pattern. Integras have a 100mm bolt
pattern. Your rims are Integra rims and will NOT fit on a CL, 90-01
Accord nor 92-96 Prelude --- all of which need a 114mm wheel.
This is what I got for my effort:
"I am sure you know best. The fact that they say 98 Acura CL right on them means nothing, I'm sure. Enjoy your life."
And so, me again:
"Kathy, it matters not what it says on the rim. Honda/Acura never label their OEM rims as to what car model they fit. If it has the letters "CL" on them it is therefore a coincidence and means something else.
Your rims might also have a "JJ" specification stamped on them. Maybe you should be selling them as "Acura JJ wheels" in that case?
Look, you KNOW I was only trying to help; I even gave some very good tips on how to get them out of your life by easily having UPS come and pick them up.
I find it ironic that at first you didn't want the hassle of shipping, and yet you'll willingly endure a far greater headache when a buyer finds out what you really sold them. But you do as you wish."
Her:
"David;
What's the problem?
The auction specifically says "pick up only". You demanded an accommodation to which I acquiesed.
Nothing about this sale will make you happy. If you check my feedback, you will see that I do not have problems in sales.
You are welcome not to buy them. Doubtless you know what is best for you. Understand, please, that I run my own life. I have been doing it for some time before you touched base with me.
As swell as it is to have your permission to do as I wish, be assured that the permission is unnecessary.
Simply put, these rims are not for you. Rest assured that you will not buy them from me.
Be in good health. Enjoy yourself where you are."
Me:
> Nothing about this sale will make you happy.
"Sale? What sale? When the bidder demands a refund, you mean to tell me
you'll still count it as a 'sale'?
Rest assured your "sale" need not make me happy, for it's clear I don't
intend to bid. I feel lucky in having recognized your wheels for what
they are: mislabled. I have offerred indepentently verifiable proof,
for which you have no interest. This makes you either a fool or a fraud.
Ultimately, I have no time for either, and no more time for this. And
please, Kathy, do not further contact me with any more protestations of
how well you do without any assistance; I'm sufficiently impressed.
Be well and take care."
Her:
"Sure thing.
Except it isn't nice to intimate bad things about people, classify them, or to point fingers at other people when your own responsibility over your own feelings is missing.
You started this little dialogue. You can stop it.
Good day to you..
From an Unwilling Correspondent"
Me:
"Kathy,
Do not confuse the messenger with the message. You claim I am not nice; on the contrary --- I have been nothing but cordial and informative.
Your assertion that you are more aware of my feelings more than I is misguided, presumptuous and imperious.
> From an Unwilling Correspondent
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
I have asked you once not to contact me further. Consider this my
second request, and a warning of submission of all correspondence to
any relevant parties."
