Have to Vent Again - Nothing Severe

I find the response "Use the search" really starting to get annoying.

I use search as much as the next guy, but there has to be a line drawn.

When posting commonly asked questions, I can see the need.

But when posting a topic concerning safety (like I did here) I really shouldn't have to run a search to make sure it hasn't been covered or not.

I have never, ever told someone to use the search on any forum I belong to, its basically taking the time out to post that when you can actually post a short reply, or even run a search yourself and post the link.

It isn't hard work to help someone out with your knowledge.

If you can't help the person out, just ignore the thread... or, if you really want to help out, run a search for the answer and point them in the right direction.

We are a dying breed of unique tuners, most of us could have chosen any Honda/Sport Compact, but chose the uncommonly built CB7 platform, lets at least try to help one another out

Its the same passion we share, so lets lend a hand.

And I've said it before - the search on this site isn't exactly Google. (it kinda sucks)

I'm just trying to get us to be more like an online family... I've been a member on another forum for 5 years and I'm cool with pretty much everyone on that site.

Thats the way I want it here, for me at least.

Unless someone starts it, please, lets try not to get on other people about their cars and what they do to them.

I never made fun of someones car unless it was a total mistake.

I may have selected parts that you would never use, but don't go out of your way to tell me how stupid I am for "wasting" MY money on it.

    Be constructive about it.

And I'm apologizing to anyone who's skin I got under... but you had it coming

    - Mike

P.S. If anyone wants my cell# PM me...

if you use it, then people don't tell you to.

the only dying breed are the people that make things on their own, find unique solutions, or have tons of answers.

whilte i don't disagree with the overall sentiment of your post, i do disagree with some of the specific points made, 2 of which i mentioned above.

btw, a search for the term "seafoam" in all forums brings up 55 threads.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I understand that sometimes the answers found using the search can be inadequate. I've searched a number of times and found SOMETHING about what I wanted to know, but usually not enough. That's when I would ask. Sometimes I look in the wrong threads... I mean, if uncle_el recently answered a question about the spring rate of Omnipower coilovers in a theread initially about Tein SS coilovers (assume the thread had Tein SS in the title) then my search for "omnipower coilovers" would bring up that thread. Now, would I click on a thread entitled "Tein SS" when looking for Omnipower information? Probably not. el knows the info is there, but I don't. So when I post my thread asking for that specific information, he could respond in my thread with a link to the Tein thread (or just answer my question).

Quite honestly, I search every time before I ask ANYTHING on here. Many times I find a number of similar threads, but not the complete answer. In my opening statements, I say "I tried a search, but I still didn't get all the answers". I've never been told to search.

Simply telling someone to search is idiotic, IMO. If they ask even the dumbest question, you have 2 options... link them to a thread that answers their question, or answer their question. "search" solves nothing. If it bothers you so much that people are wasting bandwidth with stupid questions, don't waste more with a stupid reply!

I believe the search newb comment is a gross example of post whoring. I love it however when those same people have problems and they need help solving it. Then they can't get a straight answer or they get thread jacked. Karma, if you want to call it that.

            Exactly.

Answer the question or STFU. Even if you wish to be rude and condescending, at least answer the question!
