I don't drink iced tea because i'm a man. A lot of the death you speak of is from people who refused to leave their homes. I got up in YOUR face because im sick of all the anti bush/govt shit. It is your suggestion that all the American Military knows how to do is to get out of a situation instead of remedying it is what twists me. If you're so good at doing stuff, please contact your local recruiter and work your way up the ranks until you reach admiral or general. Until then, stop running your mouth unless you're going to do something about the situation.

If you detest the way the country is being run, hate the current leader, don't like the way state and local governments are taking care of situations, then my suggestion is for you to leave this country that you apparently dislike so strongly.

I don't understand why so often an intended positive post ends up being attacked and quickly turned into a negative thread....Pakalolo was just trying to wish others well. I guess some of you didn't see that. It seems as if people thrive so much on conflict that they dig for the most negative interpretation of someone's words and "start fires".

It is a time of unsurpassed devastation due to the dense population compared to 100 years or more ago....people are gonna panic, people are gonna die, people are gonna make decisions that they would normally never ever make...politician, civilian, military, whatever they are... It's sadly just a fact. There's simply no point in getting all caught up and personally attacking someone on an online forum for typing something that you may disagree with. Folks should focus more on trying to find the good in every situation rather than dwelling on the negativity. It would make for such a better world.

The bottom line IMO is that when you try to evacuate a million+ people, there's gonna be some chaos. The US military has no experience in evacuating a group of that magnitude. I do believe that the military would have greatly contributed to a better organized evac execution, but far from perfect by any means. Only one to blame for this is Mother Nature. It's no human being's fault. I feel as if people have done the best that they can for such an unpredictable state of emergency.

Lots of people just don't want to hear it, and will actually think the person complaining caused their own misery, because to them the situation "isn't that bad". So in this instance, you are "un-American" and should therefore leave the country.

I for one being from texas think its great someone else not in this state cared enough to say something about the hurricane not like it affects them all that much. Thanks who ever started the post makes us Texans feel better! If you had family or freidns stuck in Houston ( i do too) seeing Rita is not going to hit them directly they SHOULD ( cross fingers ) be okay.
Yes i think they could of evacuated better but it was better than the lousiana one so i guess we are fortunate. But hindsight is 2020 and they should do better next time, God help us if there is a next time.

I think its shitty it takes real desasters to make us all more human, we apparntly didnt learn back on 9-11. But i think its good to see the nation coming together to help lous. and Tx.

Thank you !!! And you're absolutely correct .. thats all I was doing .. I saw that bus go up in flames
and learned why it happened, and got pretty upset about the fact that they would even consider
something so lame .. talk about rocket science ..
Not to mention .. they could have taken better precautions to see that no one ran outta gas ..
attempting to leave the state .. and having stations run out of gas behind and in front of them was ..
well .. thats a huge mistake by someone .. its simply sad to see this Nation go through disaster after disaster,
and still drop the ball on issues that could have easily been taken care of ... beforehand ..

And I certainly didnt expect to be met with with such statements as "stfu" or me being "un-American"
for stating what I (me, myself and I) felt was another botched attempt at an evacuation.
Specially when people respond to something I posted by saying they never even finished reading
the entire post .. Good GOD .. reading and writing is a basic element, when responding to a thread,

so are you suggesting that the military could not have helped out and contributed to the situation and helped many of the people. The true definition of an army is to protects its people, no matter what...hence hurricanes fall under that category. With more time more things could have gotten done, thats no ones fault. However, with more military help and such, i believe less deaths would occur. I am not saying that the US military does a bad job at all...im simply stating that more military help would have been 'good'.

and before you say some bullshit about me not liking the us military, well that is quite the contrary, my friend was in iraq and now has suffered mass lungs injurries from the desert...i hold the highest respect for him and think that anyone who serves for the country deserves gradification.

were kept safe also .. We've had our fair share of *disaster* here in Florida, and I for one
know what it's like to have lost everything .. however, I still have have me .. lol ..

I served in this Counrty's Military so that we YOU and I, could have a choice, other then *vanilla*.
It would be a very boring state of affairs if we only had one choice, and everyone
thought alike .. think about it .. Are you really sure about that? Or .. are you just simply saying that?
I had the opportunity to visit Berlin, beFORE the wall came down.. and believe when I say this ..
you wouldn't want annnnnny part of that ... trust me .. please .. that wasn't something I'd expect
