Dont get your panties in a bunch .. I'm simply stating that its not rocket science
when it comes to an evacuation .. we had better *practices* then whats been displayed
in the last two national events that have taken place when I was IN the Military!

local authorities of TX .. I just now, (after saying that evacuations should be Military coordinated)
have heard on my local news, that .. they are talking about doing just that, in the future.

Imagine that .. well .. someone's reading my mind .. and Val .. we're glad that you're in Abilene,
and far, far away from natures harm .. here's to hoping that the loss of life, and property
is held to a strict minimum.. and may God be with TX this weekend ..

Since I don't feel like being warned, I'm not going to reply with what I want to, other than the comment that the military and bugging out has to be the most un-American thing I've read on this board in a very very long time.

Well, just as I suspected .. Mr ACCORDianate hasn't PM'd me with an explanation
of why he thinks the use of the words *Military* and or *bug-out* in my original post
has offeneded him to the point that he thinks I may be *un-American* ..

I'll explain it for you .. if I may .. ahem ..

The term *bug-out* was and has been used by the Military to mean that, we are
*on the run* ie: to evacuate, pull back, or retreat. Simple no? As I stated earlier,
we not only had to bug-out at times .. but we had to *practice* bugging out ..
And if you've ever been in the Military, you'd know for a fact, the Military has a very strict
and *precise* way of doing things. Not only did we have to be good at it, we also
had to do it in a *certain amount of time*. Anything less then the time required, was
considered a *failure*.

Now if you can find anything *un-American* about that, well .. I dont know what to say.

And Thank you Phatdoughnut .. quite an understatement as well

I for one think that we're *less safe* then we were, before 911 .. If I can go through security
with a half an ounce of good Hawaiian bud in my shoes, then by all rights .. I could actually
conceal anything .. couldn't I?

BTW .. I'm probably *more* American then you could imagine .. Its just that after watching
the recent scenarios on television, I for one get very upset, when I see a cluster fuck
like that on I-45, and my own country cant even get out of it's own way to save it's life.
In short .. not the people I'd want to follow into war .. not by a long shot ...

And Mick .. really .. you'd vote for me .. I know you would ..

I'll have you know that I had to drive 23 miles home, go grocery shopping at a store full of people buying supplies for the near-miss the hurricane is going to be in my area, and make dinner for my wife and kids, and God forbid I watch television to see what the actual situation is with the hurricane Rita since I've been at work for the past 8.5 hours, so quit being so impatient.

Unfortunately I don't hover over your every word, staring at the screen pressing the refresh button, awaiting with stomach butterflies atwitter for your witty retorts or flaccid explanations.

So with that being said, please wave your Harry Potter magic wand and fix the situation that you apparently feel everyone is incapable of taking care of that you could do oh-so-much better yourself. Right now the hurricane eye is just offshore; I fully expect you to be able to make calm seas, clear skies, and all the evacuees able to be back in their snuggly warm beds within the hour. The next hurricane coming near the United States I fully expect you to turn into cotton candy neatly packaged into individual portions.

Go go. Hit it.

Nevertheless .. I'm sorry that you have to go through what you're going through ..
Read my original post again .. I state that God should be with you .. and I meant that ..
Living in Florida, and having lost my last home to the TWO hurricane's that came through
last year .. I would wish this on NO one .. All I said was, in preparing a million and half people
for mass exodus, it seems that opening the *south* bound lanes, would make exiting, or
*bugging-out* .. (a term that will stick with me forever) a whole lot simpler, and much more
*feasible* seeing as the great number of people being moved, has never been done before.

Why not leave it to the Military ???? Afterall, who has better experiance then our own Calvary?
I for one believe that it *should* be a decision that is left up to some General.

Your own state troopers, local police, and politicians, have no experiance whatsoever
in how/what to do, in this situation.
When a bus load of elderly folks blow up and die .. and some clown (I cant remember his name)
comes on television, and tries to tell me that the *evacuation* has been a success .. wellll,
thats unacceptable to me ..
What and how was that a success? Ok .. lets load a bunch of old folks.. on a bus ..
with oxygen tanks, next to each other, on a transport that has been *suspect* annnnd
with a driver, that isn't even licensed, in the UNITED STATES!!!!!!! That's a fawkin BOMB
and an accident waiting to happen, if you ask me .. but you didn't ask me .. so, forget I said it.
Goodness fawkin gracious America .. wake the fuck up!

The hurricane hasn't even hit yet .. but .. we have *casualties* because of idiotic decisions
that should have never been made ..

Enter the Military .. and I assure you .. things would be done swifter, smarter, with better
communications, and logistics. Plain and simple .. How do I know this you ask ??
Beacause I've been there .. done that .. and *civilians* don't even have a clue in as much
as exiting a burning barn .. let alone a fawkin entire state ..

Godamnit .. I'm getting pissed now .. Grrrrr .. its simple ...here ya go .....
You turn EVERY south bound on ramp .. into a north bound ramp .. you then leave ONE
lane open for south bound traffic .. that traffic would be for use by emergency vehicles ..
fire/police, or ambulance .. and IF you're going south bound as a civilian .. you better DAMN WELL
have a fawkin note from the Mayor, the cops, or GOD himself .. OR, you get your car impounded,
right then and there, put on a duece and a half .. and gaurded with the rest of the folks
who are being brought out who failed to comply.

The problem with this Country .. is NOT the Country .. its the boneheads who think that
they can *go against the grain* and then end up having to be rescued by the very ones
that tryed to save/help them, in the first godamned place ...

How many fawkin times in my life have I had to rescue some fawkin redneck in Hawaii
that I WARNED not to go out in the waves on the north shore of Oahu ?????
Know what they say? "We have bigger waves then THIS in N. Carolina"
"Who duh ya think YOU are anyway"? "You own the ocean in these here parts"?
Everything to the nature of that .. I've heard it all !!!!! And guess who has to go out
and rescue Billy Joe Bob? I've even gone to the extreme, of BLASTING him in the face
while dragging is lard ass in .. in 10-15 foot surf .. because if I didn't .. HE woulda KILLED ME
by trying to survive himSELF!

People dont understand .. untill they are IN the predicament of what Mother Nature
has to show them .. Then, guess what .. EVERY Barney I've ever pulled from the water,
has thanked me.. up annnnnnnd dowwwwn the beach .. and said they'd NEVER argure with me again.

Trust me when I say this .. Our Military knows how to *evacuate* people .. effectively AND
expediently .. no if's and or fawkin but's about it .... would we be happy in the *way*
they did it ?? Probably not .. BUT .. the loss of life, would be farrrrr less, then if we left it
in the hands of our *local gov* .. which IMHFO .. hasn't got a CLUE, in how to do anything.

It took them HOURS to open a south bound lane to north bound traffic .. and youn wanna know
WHERE they got the idea from? A fawkin *citizen* called in from another state .. and MADE
the suggestion .. DUHHHHhh .. !!!

A retired Col. ... who has had *experiance* with *evacuations* .. imagine that!!!!

Once again man .. I really hope that you're safe where you are .. and am glad that you
have your family, and that it will be a *near miss* for you and your's ... ALL I'M SAYING
is .. when it comes to a *mass exodus* such as what I saw on television .. get the
local Gov OUT of it .. and make it a Military coordination from that point on ..

Its a fawkin NO BRAINER that the state troopers seem to FUCK UP every single time!

this storm hits .. and yes .. I will keep *refreshing* the 19 fawkin sites that I have up,

alb_ .. you're in Philly? You can call the red cross .. and tell them of your concern ..
get the number to your cousin and her address to them .. and they might be able to help ..
Time is running out tho .. to the point to where they won't send anyone in .. in fear
of jepordizing their own *crews* .. but the red cross is your best bet .. if she has a cell
just keep trying it .. I got thru on a cell to one of my clients in Houston .. I just kept dialing.
She's fine and out of harms way .. up north ..

Hope your cousin is fine.
