welders in need of some assistance

    I SWEAR I saw that exact same welder for like $75 at Sears last time I was there...

    But anyway. I was the one who mentioned the cheap welder... basically, what I had in mind was a small, low power MIG welder. I wanted to get one myself to learn on.

      well i weld plates for hulls on ships (i work in a shipyard) so to me seat bracket metal isnt all that thick. but an underpowered low budget MIG wont do the job. any cheap arc welder will do it, because a stick will penetrate, if you run like a 3/32" rod on like 95-110 you can weld both sides then grind it flush, just make sure both sides are clamped to avoid bowing. any of this make sense?
