how can i 'spice' up my bedroom?

this is kind of a weird question but it just seems like my bedroom is boring. i live on my own so i have the whole place to my self but the bedroom is a distingushing place overall. i have a pretty nice place and all..

the main thing is i see all these rooms on room raiders and they look cool. what else can i add to my room to make it not so plain? maybe some pictures on the wall but what else will really make the room a more enjoyable place?

all i do in here is sleep, watch tv, play on the laptop and thats about it.. it just needs some flavor. any and all suggestions will be helpful! here are some pics of my room as of now.

oh yea, i have a new bedset coming to match the colors of the frame. black comforter w/ gold stitching and such..











and lastly.. my fucking new dining room table that got a chunk shattered off it from the heat of the bottom of my other laptop. there was a SMALL crack on the border and the heat made it shatter. so now i get a whole new furniture set..




my room just doesn't seem like it would be anything out of the ordinary to bring a girl back to. maybe add some kind of darker lights for shits or some kind of tropical stuff? hell.. i'm no decorator i can tell you that!

first things first:

better fitting comforter and better fitting sheets for starters. you don't have to go big baller, you can find decent stuff at target, tj maxx, marshall's.

candle's, with the right dishes/containers/holders are always a nice touch. same stores btw.

well first off, your room looks like a,, well a motel room? or a doorm room. what are your hobbies and special interest's? put those on your blank walls. like my room for instance,. for a bed, i chose a "hida bed" and put a comfy mattress on whith some slight mods(so you dont feel any bars). and chicky's really dig it. a snowboard in the corner as "off season" wall art. in the other corner, an exhotic fish tank all done up on a crack head budget. i was even at one tyme using a spare set of 18tns as corner stand. girls would ask why not on the car? then you give them some arogant comment like " i'm humbeling my car at the moment as i sport my 17tns.
see i allways had a girl so they decorated the rooms accordingly. now when they come over for "servicing", they are like wow, its a guy's guy's room.
just some ideas.
or you could just take your ass to IKEA or MORE. chicks allways like their crap. and its cheap.

el, i feel you about the sheets and such. my mom bought me some black and gold sheets, pillow cases, comforter and such for the bed.. thanks mom.

i'll probably buy 2 new matching lamps for the end tables since i broke one of the others.. but i'm so horrible at the whole bedroom thing.

If some people could post up pics of their rooms, that would help me too!

hell ya marshalls is the shit...they have everything el mentioned for a fraction of the price that u would pay at a high end place....and there name brand too. and get some color on the wall.....a gallon of paint is $10 a walmart.girls love the candles......and a blacklight or 2.

snailin91, i live in a 1 bedroom apartment. the living and dining room is done for now.. its all leather couches and stuff out there but when i move to my new apartment im buying a nice bigscreen w/ my work discount and a whole new black leather set. but thats 5 months away..

see that is where you and i might differ a bit, not really into the leather, for the region where im at, winter-to cold summer-to hot. and not really up for the maintainance. i live in a two bed two bath with a roomate of mine. lucky for me, when me and my fiance split, i got the furnature and cat, and she got her clothes and the acura. so my living room and kitchen are lookin like there is a female livin there. girls feel at home when they come over. but the room is my private sanctuary, all i need are the basics. instead of a big screen, i go turbo projects and road trips. i'll get the big screen when i get my house. dont wanna move that thing JEESHHH gotta be heavy. and i'm not the type of person that likes to be home alot. i'm usually found at the local espresso stand talkin to the cuties, or out enjoying a good back road. just never wanted to stay indoors a whole bunch. but either way, it was just some tips or pointer if you may.

uncle_el made some great suggestions. Think about making it classy, candles, a few nice FRAMED posters or pictures.

Posters, a sound system?, a coat of paint on the walls other than white, replace the blinds to match (complimentary color or identical), maybe some kind of painted wood trim in the bland edged spots (ie. window edges, ceiling meeting the wall, etc.).
Just throwing ideas out there.
I've always loved having lots of movie posters (mostly old kung fu movie posters), a futon for a bed and couch, and an un-obtrusive computer desk with some sort of sound system adding to it and my computer (I run just about everything through my comp. including TV).
I hate clutter.

thanks a lot for the suggestions, they are very helpful. imma have to hit up marshalls tomorrow.. their website shows like they have some cool stuff. i'll just make sure to take my friend dawn with me so she can help, haha.

i'm thinking about painting the room a dark green.. i think making it darker would make it feel better at night and stuff.

NO,,, making it darker will make it feel smaller. and it will be a BITCH to repaint when you go to move. DONT DO IT you will regret it.

dont think chickies want to go to a dungon. but they do wanna be torchered a bit, atleast the ones i know hehehe

you know what would be cool? get one of those TV wall mounts. you know that kind that hang in the corner? kinda like the ones in doctors offices and such...



second, try some lamps that are the same, lol

some stream line black ones would look really cool with that set. nothing too big. I only have one nightstand next to my bed, and i have a black touchlamp. nice and modern looking. Plus they have little gold accents on the top, nice touch to the gold trim on your bed set.

try some nice black comforters or something like that, I bought one from mexico (i know you can get them all over just cheaper in mexico). its my top sheet. its a light black/dark gray color and it feels a bit like suede. i gotta check.

and under the tv, you could have oval like shelves *they connect to both sides and are given the appearance that they are floating* holding your VCR or DVD player or whatever it is you use. I got my VCR and Sega Genesis floating

another thing that'll help, is PLAY TEH SIMS!
