Right you are ken... In preparation for the hurricane, they shut off the oil rigs in the gulf. Why havent you heard much of it on the news you ask? Well thats because the government is smart for once, and dont want people to panic, buy all the remaining gas, and skyrocket prices. I did hear that the average was supposed to have gone up about 13 cents this week.

Yeah Jersey was always in the 1's while everyone else was in the 2's. I remember back in 2000 gas was like 99 cents, 1.10, etc.

            Now its 2.69 and growing!

Not to scare people.. but just a warning. I have heard from a couple different sources that it WILL be going up 40-50 cents overnight.

I am sure this is due to what happened to one of the refineries in the gulf ( it broke loose, and is currently smashed into the side of a very critical bridge in the LA/GA area.

So it may be a good idea to fill up tonight. If it doesn go up.. then I guess at least you have gas, but with the latest info on the refinery, seems like it will be going up.

" while offshore at least two oil rigs were adrift in the Gulf of Mexico." ... whoopsies

GF's Escalade needed 80 something to fill up. Even worse, the tank was not empty. 93 octane over here is 2.99 and she was really bitchin about that. Gas prices are making my next project car decision stay in the 4 cylinder range.

They didnt go up overnight... but how much you wanna make a bet that the average will go up over 3 very soon. Today as I looked out infront of the office, and noticed an h2 taking up 2 spots since they couldnt maneuver it into 1 space... I realized, this is the karma coming for all of those people.

edit... it downsized it, but that is the oil rig that broke loose and is smashed under a bridge.

Not to mention, with New Orleans under water, who knows if the stil functioning oil rigs will even be usefull since most likely it is operated through New Orleans.

The Walmart gas station by my wife's work went from $2.59 to $2.71 overnight. The Albersons gas station which is usually more expensive than everyone else in town is only $2.60 this morning.
