This is by far the funniest shit Ive ever heard.
It seems car makers will come up with anything to name a new car these days , I was browsing Wiki for information on the 1962 Buick Special (beautiful classic btw) and then I came across the name of the new Buick LaCrosse , Apparently in the Canadian market its called the Allure..they were gonna name it LaCrosse but came up with a slight problem..
and I qoute:
The name was reputedly chosen as a reference to the sport of lacrosse, seen as popular with a younger, more active demographic which Buick would like to pull into its showrooms. An introduction in the city of LaCrosse, Wisconsin was also planned.
In Canada, however, the car is called Allure. News reports indicated that General Motors Corp. had to scrap the name LaCrosse for the Canadian market after discovering it was teenage slang for masturbation in French-speaking Quebec.
That has to be really embarassing for the GM guys up in Canada.
