do you own your car? If so, do you have full coverage insurance? Full coverage typically doubles your insurance rate, I have never had it, basically if I cause the accident, insurance pays for them but not my car. if its someone elses fault.. your good to go. I pay just over 120 a month, and that is w/o my good student discount, an accident(at fault) and 1or2 tickets.

So that should help you right there. At least you are trying to pay it off, most people let it sit there and it ends up doubling from interest. I have 14k out on a student loan, and im busting my ass, and going to try to pay it off in 1year since I hate having debt, and interest sux!

But just pay it off now, be better off later. Also if you eat out a lot, dont do it as much... it adds up quick.

Damn.. well I would check and see what you can do about taht insurance rate. Unless you have a crazy record w/running from the cops, countless racing tickets... I thought my 800/6mo was bad.

If you have good grades, see if they give you a discount for that. mine was 400/yr... which i freakin lost do to the piece of shit school i went to (kettering university).

if you have an alarm, some places give a discount(small but better than nothing)

i realize school is a big thing coming up but have you ever considered a second summer job or better afterschool job. I went to highschool in the morning and attended one class english 4, i went to work till 2 and then attended my elective which was automech 4, and then went back to work till 7pm. then when summer came around i worked from 7-3 and 4-12 but of course i was 18 so that helped with child labor laws which were not really as strict as they are now.

its like nothing in the world. definition of relaxation.

Man... I wish I could say I was only $1300 in debt! That's just my credit card amount! I'm $63,000 in debt right now, and I'm awaiting a call on a $15,000 loan so I can be even MORE in debt!

Basically, I say stop spending completely and work your ass off. You have time in the summer to work like crazy, so take advantage. Once school starts, you won't have the time, and you don't want your school work to suffer. Work at KFC as much as they'll let you. Get out the lawnmower (or go buy one for $50) and look for some lawnmowing jobs on your day off. Offer to wash people's cars. Sell some stuff you don't need. Street race for money (kidding!)

Money is hard to come up with, but when you put your mind to it it's not impossible. You have a good month before you have to go back to school. Once you get out of that debt, you'll be able to work towards saving money for fun (or necessary) stuff for the car!

I say hold your head and budget yourself or perhaps look for another side part time job just to get you by on other shit so you can actually save up on other things and such. And if you have a girlfriend which im sure you probably due tell her that you gotta handle some bills now and that nomore spending money on her for awhile so thats cut watch her throw a tantrum and try and bounce.

1300? stop whining. when you enter the real world you will see what debt actually is.

but seriously, as said before, budget, budget, budget. even if you wanna sepnd that 400 on your car, if you have more imprtant things to get get them first, toys come with extra income. pay all obligations, then get your toys.

oh and why is your insurance so high?

shit, i have around $10,000 in bills. i work fulltime and im getting in school next semester, and with other current bills it's hard to tackle my debt at all. i pay $200 a month for my car, i don't have insurance now cause i lost a job a while back, but i'm getting insurance again on next paycheck, that is about $380 a month full coverage. plus i gotta pay rent around $300 a month. and i only make $9 an hour, oh and my car got towed today for expired tags so i gotta pay $250 on friday to get it out, then pay $40 for new tags. my bank account is overdrawn $100. my credit card is over the limit of $2,000 by about $50(total of $2,050... i still owe around $3500 on my car, i owe $700 on my last car, i owe my last bank $300, i owe old insurance company $400, i owe my mom $100, i owe my cell phone company $300. i owe my girlfriend about $30, and i owe the state $200 for claiming unemployment for 2 weeks after i had a job.

When I was 17 in MA, with full coverage my insurance was a little over 210/month. I've since dropped collision and just kept theft, adn I'm hovering around the 90/month mark.
