Timesplitters Future Perfect is pretty cool, but its a FPS, not a 3rd person shooter like SOCOM.
Disk Read Errors happen because after a while the lens and disk tray become misaligned. All you have to do is open up the console, and turn the little white gear under the disk tray to fix it.

bro, i called Sony's technical support and they told me that the drivers were out of date... and it wasnt covered in my warranty (i only had it for three months)
Me: "Excuse me? It's not covered in my warranty? Your telling me i spent three hundred dollars, and you can't fix something that you guys fucked up on?"
Tech "Sir.... Calm down... fortounately you can send it in to get the drivers updated for 150 plus shipping."
Me: "If i send it in, its going up your ass!"
i hung up and threw my PS2 against the wall...
sony can fucking suck dick

Man I don't know WHO you talked to but I just got off the phone with their tech support to confirm their prices and nothing has changed since they serviced my PS2 four months ago which is....
They give you an RMA number, you pay shipping to send the PS2 in, and for a flat $45 charge they send you back a refurbished unit with 90 day warranty.
The funny part is that for $75 flat rate they will repair your current unit, lol so I choose then $45 option.
LMAO. Seriously.... what "driver updates" are you talking about??? Theres no such thing, unless youre referring to the fact that the new PS2s use a different start up disk that has an update for the DVD driver for DVD playback, and come with an updated DVD ROM. Thats about it. At least until you compare the regular PS2 to the slim PS2.
Friends of mine have told me that it was something like 45 bucks to get their console serviced, not 150. Why would you even send it off for 4-6 weeks for 150, when you can buy a brand new one for 150???
Either way I wouldnt pay it, and neither did they. I opened up all my friends consoles that were having the problem and did exactly what I stated in my previous post. Just adjust the little white gear under the disk tray, and clean the inside of the entire console. Ive never had that DRE problem ever since, and that was maybe 4-5 years ago.
Id rather take this small little insignificant minor problem that is completely fixable from the users end, then to have to put up with what first gen XBOX owners had to deal with.

So basically you smashed it for no damn reason.
the guy i talked to said that the drivers were out of date, and to replace the drive would be 150 bucks. keep in mind, this was when they first came out.
sony still sucks
oh, and i traded my PS2 at GameStop..... and it worked when they tested it out infront of me
i was pissed... but they had already gave me the store credit
