    DVD burning help!!!

I just got a DVD burner, and I'm trying to use Nero to burn.

Now, I have a bunch of anime that I downloaded (fansubs of Gantz, Initial D, and Full Metal Alchemist mainly...) I want to make video DVDs of them, watchable on my DVD player (well... ps2... )

When I try to add the files (.avi files, divx and/or xvid format, I believe) it says "no compatible file found". Does this mean I'm screwed? Is there a way to make these files compatible?

I've NEVER burned a DVD before, so I'm lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

edit: I just got another message from the program saying something about NeroVision Express or something... to convert .avi files to DVD files. Let's try that!

Yeah, Nero should convert the fiels automatically. They need to be in a MPEG format before you can start the burn. (Thats why most of the time the quality is a little lower on a DVDR than on your hard drive)

look for some AVI to mpeg converters www.tucows.com or www.download.com

    ALSO

you said you were going to watch them on a PS2, dont bother wasting your time because the older PS2s dont work with re-writeable DVD/VCD media. Unless you have one thats been realeased withing the last year or two, It WILL work. If you have one of the first ones, Wont work. I tried it.

    Good Luck!!

Ya know, I'm going through the exact same dillema. I've got a bunch of Animes (Initial D, Samurai Champloo), and I've been trying to burn VCD's. Now, to the best of my knowledge, VCD's are similar to DVD's in the sense that if you have a DVD player that will recognize MPEG movies, you can watch it just like a DVD. Is this right?

      ALSO

I tried making a DVD, had everything set up, then let my burning software (Ahead, I think it's called) convert the movies. Well, It got to the end of converting my second file (Initial D 4th Stage - 02) when it gave me some bogus error message about some kinda mis-read information. I can't remeber exactly what it was, but it really pissed me off cause it took that long to convert two movies, then it gets to the VERY END of the sond conversion of the second, then cancels the project. Help!

      Thanks

Some of the Initial D files floating around aren't that great. I noticed some have some corruption, which would probably make Nero (your program, made by Ahead... who I believe is in the process of changing the official company name to Nero, since it's their only REALLY popular product...)

What files do you have? My Stage 4 episodes 1-14 are L-E&IDE... 15 and 16 are WD. 17 and 18 are raws... I'm still waiting on translations

I'm glad you find my quote funny I was waiting for someone to get it.

I usually use limewire to get Initial D, and thusly I only have episodes 1-15 with subs downloaded. Episode 15 was JUST put up with subs from L-E&IDE. Where did you get the WD ones? and exactly what is WD?

I'm guessing WD is just another group that subs... Not bad either. L-E&IDE didn't seem to have those availible. I get all my stuff (usually) from either isohunt.com or packetnews.com. Kazaalite is my backup (and sometimes comes through for me)
