Driving a lowered car requires a quick eye for road obstacles

Now I know how different it could be to drive a lowered car on the street. My car is at stock height, but while driving through a road under construction, I misjudged the height of a raised manhole and just touched an exhaust system component. It was a rainy night and scared the hell out of me because it seemed the transmission housing was hit at first.

I guess when you lower your car, you have to be extra careful with whatever might be on the road.

Yup.. I have had that happen once.. in Miami, wasnt paying attention, and they decided to just raise the manholes. somehow I made it over it.. but i was just waiting for a nasty sound.

Yeah, living in VT, doesnt help at all. Lots of dirt roads, and poorly paved roads = an angry ben and sometimes a scraped car. Luckily when i lower my car, ill be living in Rhode Island, so hopefully roads won't be so bad.

I live in NYC, and have the worst roads in the country (not an exaggeration, i'll take pics sometime), and whenever I go home to Brooklyn, it's like a game avoiding roads debris, potholes, speedbumps, w/e. You have to be quick with the reflexes, and you have to have a good suspension (which I do) to make it through without major damages. Why do I do it, because most of the year I'm out in Long Island now (roads here are smooth). So, that's my story.

You should try dodging shit in the road when your lowered with a body kit. I seem to have a problem with scooping up frogs with my front bumper....

I am different than most girls I do tha same I scan the road for obstacles but my bf 's previous girl thought that a rock was coke can and tore his oil pan up. I would have even dodged a coke can just to be safe.

Well, having a truck helps a lot but Pittsburgh has some pretty nasty roads. There is one pot hole that i heard about fixing a flat tire. It got 41 cars in one night. some cars got both tires popped on the same side.

How much did that cost to fix?

well i'm not sure thats fixable, and i wouldnt wanna fix that anyway, a new downpipe is prolly the easiest and most efficient solution to that...and be lucky your downpipe took a hit before any other important things, imo, i'd rather buy a new exaust or pieces of it as long as other parts of my car are safe
