Man, this thread is funny. Many myths, and assumptions which should be layed to rest.
First of all, the 5th gen lude is not the pig you all are making it out to be. It's not in the same weight class as a miata, but its not much heavier than the 4th gen lude you all are comparing it to. A 5th gen base weighs about 2950 which is about 10 or more lbs than a 4th gen vtec. The SH model weighs about 3042, so it's about 90 lbs heavier.
A well driven 5th gen lude with I/H/E/Vafc will run 14.5-14.9's on street tires all day! I don't think that is very bad, considering the h22 is 10 year old technology. In my lude, I've raced a number of K-powered cars and I have definitely held my own.
5th gen preludes are a pretty good starting point to making a pretty fast street car, They are definitely not geared towards drag racing (but then again neither is the cb7 haha dont get offended people.), but with a little work I think you can make them fast.
As far as getting a prelude over an accord with a swap, I'd pick the prelude all day. I'm not just saying that because I own one, but even one of your fellow cb7 owners said the average time for a swapped accord is about 14.9, not a very big improvement from what a h22 equipped lude can run.
If you guys wanna see what an all motor 5th gen prelude can run, all you nor*cal heads come to CMI in June. I'll have the green bb6.
oh one last note for all the JDM heads on here, bb6 owners don't need JDM parts, bb6's were made and assembled in japan!
No hard feelings about the bashing, I know this is a cb7 site, so I can expect it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect that. So in the same way you should respect my opinion of cb7's as being outdated, middle-class family cars with no power.
